You wished you were home celebrating Christmas with your family; but then again, it would've been a dull occasion seeing as Shuu was still bedridden. This is okay, you thought to yourself as you watched the Qs decorate the house, this is alright.
--
You were in a slight panic as you cooked, how the hell am I suppose to do this? You thought as you added some salt, your eyes glued to the cookbook, attempting to follow it exactly as it was. I hope this doesn't accidentally kill them. Oh god it smells terrible."What's that smell?" Shirazu's voice piped up from the living room as he and Urie hung decorative bobbles on the tree. Shit.
"Um..." You turned around, trying to play it cool. "The food." They're gonna get suspicious. Shit. Shit. Sh-
"Holy crap it smells great, you should cook for us all the time."
Oh thank god.
--
It was in the evening, an hour before most guests were expected to arrive, when you decided to go on a stroll to calm yourself. The entire day you spent cooking human food and by luck you managed to actually do it well. To you it smelled pretty gross, but to the Qs, it was like smelling something from heaven apparently.Half an hour into your walk, you saw a familiar-looking person walking your way. You squinted your eyes to get a better look and almost stopped walking entirely when you realised who it was: the Dove whom you fought during the auction.
Maintaining your calm disposition, you continued forward, smiling at him when he made eye-contact with you.
Taking a deep breath when you passed you, you choked when he suddenly spoke up in the process, "excuse me, Miss?" You coughed a few times before turning around, keeping your face as relaxed as possible.
"Yes?" He smiled and walked towards you.
"Do I know you from somewhere?" Shit.
"I don't believe we've met, sir."
"Hmm," you leaned in closer to you and looked at your face for a while before leaning away and said, "you're that teacher that was hired for the Quinx, aren't you?"
Thank goodness.

Haise wasn't pleased when he opened the door to see you and Kuramoto Itou standing together. "Oh! (Y/N)! Kuramoto! What're you guys doing together?"Saiko, who was sat in the living room playing with her Xbox, smirked as she picked up the jealously laced in her mentor's voice. "Maybe they're on a date!" She piped up, giggling a little.
"I just encountered (Y/N)-chan on the way here," Kuramoto said, ignoring Saiko's comment, "she showed me the way here, as well."
"Oh, I see," Haise smiled awkwardly, trying to push away any suspicion he had of the two of you but failing miserably. "Well, come on in!"
--
Dinner was rather fun, although trying not to explain why you wouldn't eat much was difficult."I'm on a diet," you smiled, denying yet another serving.
"Just relax a little, (Y/N)-chan," Kuramoto said before Haise could, "besides, you look fine!"
Dammit. Haise thought as he noticed the blush appearing on your face as his colleague beat him at saying what he wanted to first.
"Alright then, just a little more, I suppose." You inwardly cringed at the awful taste of the food but was trained well enough to pretend that it was nice.
--
"Play with me, (Y/N)-chan," Saiko whined as she held your hand, refusing to let you go until you agreed to play some Xbox game with her. "Please~ after all," she raised her voice, making sure everyone in the house could hear her, "Kuramoto's gonna play, as well, after he returns from washing the dishes with maman." Your face heated up rather quickly as all eyes laid on you."F-fine!"
--
"So," Haise spoke up, jaw clenching slightly after what Saiko said to convince you to play with her, "Kuramoto, what'd you think of (Y/N)?"He and his fellow investigator had volunteered to do the dishes after dinner was over while everyone else did their respective things such as catch up with one another or simple just exchange gifts.
"Oh!" Kuramoto replied, caught off guard by the sudden question, "I think she's great... Kind of, you know, cute." He was too concentrated on drying the plates that he didn't noticed Haise's body tensing up.
Why do I even feel this way? The black and white-haired ghoul thought as he washed the bowls with sudden vigour, I don't even really know her well enough to feel such a way... Screw it, I won't succeed in winning her over if I don't try.
--
After they were done, Saiko called Kuramoto over and said, rather loudly, "here, sit beside (Y/N)-chan."I swear to god, Saiko... Haise thought as frustration flooded his mind.
