I quickly ran back to our den with Chris at my heels. He would nip playfully at my flank, and I would growl and show my teeth at him in return, even though I meant him no harm.
Minutes later, we arrived at the cave entrance. I stepped inside and spotted the pups curled up together, napping. Chris dropped the bag of human food in front of them and nudged them lightly to wake them up. Then I felt a voice in my mind.
"Hungry?" It asked. I realized it was Chris. Of course! Since I had phased, my mental ability to communicate to other werewolves in wolf form would be enabled again! I nodded and brushed by Chris as I took a steak in my mouth. It wasn't nearly as good as raw meat, but I would take it. I ate it quickly before looking at Chris.
"I think we're gonna have to take the pups to the town." His voice said in my head.
"What?! Why?!" I asked outrageously.
"We're both runaways. We're both werewolves. By the time our pups are a year old, they need to be educated and placed in a good home, because they will begin to phase. We can't have them live this life.." He explained.
"You're right." I admitted mentally.
"We need to take them." He whispered. His voice was soft in my head, and it made me tingle inside. I wanted to kiss him again. The urge was overpowering. I sighed again.
"Okay, let's go." I said.
He nodded and walked over to the pups, picking two up in his mouth by the scruff of their necks. I went over to the remaining pup and picked her up, ignoring her protesting whines and carrying her to the exit of the cave. I hated to do this, but I knew it was the right thing to do. Maybe I would come back and visit them one day when I was older, just not now. I would miss them with all my heart, and it went against all my instincts to be doing this, but i had to. Chris was right. We began to jog towards the destination of the town, and I cherished every second I had with my pups. When we finally arrived beside the tree Chris kept his shorts in, I gently placed the pup on the ground. She whined and ran back to me, but i nudged her towards Chris. she went to her father willingly enough, but then he phased. She instantly backed away in fear, and I stared at Chris as he slipped his shorts on. He picked all three of the pups up in his arms, and they whined and sunk their teeth into his flesh, not recognizing him in his human form. They struggled and their eyes locked on me, pleading. My heart pounded painfully. Chris carried them down the hill, and I watched. He stopped at the third house this time instead of the first one, and knocked on the door. As soon as he heard the person coming to answer the door (apparently everyone in the town was a werewolf) he ran back up the hill, placing the pups on the doorstep and running to stand by my side. I watched mournfully as the person answering the door opened it and looked down at the pups. They gently picked them up and took them back inside. I exhaled sadly and felt Chris hug me from behind. I tucked my furry head into his bare chest. "I know it was hard, but it was the right thing to do." He said, standing up and taking his shorts off. He threw them into the tree and shifted into his wolf form, motioning for me to follow him home. I ran with him back to the cave, and once inside I collapsed in the far corner, not in the mood to do anything.
"Lets go to the pool at the bottom of the mountain." Chris said in my head. I was willing to go anywhere with Chris, so I agreed and got up, following him outside. When I was almost down the mountain, Chris slammed into me and we rolled, again, down the hill. Since I had phased recently, I wasn't as sure-footed in my wolf form. I plunged into the water of the pool, sinking into the depths. I heard another splash somewhere above me, and I began to push myself towards the surface. Then I decided it would be easier in human form, so I phased, bursting through the water and taking huge gulps of air. The water was up to my neck, and I treaded water as I searched my surroundings for Chris. The water was pitch-black, the moonlight reflecting off it in silvery waves. I became self-aware of my nakedness, even though my body was submerged in the water where no one could see it. Suddenly, I felt a pair of hands on my waist, and Chris rose out of the water in front of me. He was dripping with water, and it was running like a flow of tears down his tan chest. I looked back into his eyes, and he pressed his cold, damp lips to mine. The waters temperature ceased to affect me as I kissed him back. My hands rested on his muscled chest while his hands curled around my waist and pulled my body closer to his. His lips were heaven, and I could feel every inch of his cool, muscled body against mine. In this moment, I wanted him more than I had ever wanted him before in my life, and I wondered if it was just because I was in my human form and my emotions were stronger now.
"Chris." I managed to get out as he kissed down my neck.
"Hm?" he asked, continuing to kiss my neck.
"Can we...get out of the water?" I asked, wrapping my legs around his waist. He smirked and nodded, and seconds later we were laying on the grass outside of the pull as he kissed me. I was nervous to mate with him again, since the only time we had ever mated before was in our wolf forms. This was very different. He stopped and looked at me.
"Are you okay?" he asked as he prepared to enter me. Not trusting my voice, I just nodded and gripped his shoulders. When he entered me, the feeling was much different in this form, but it was better. How had I gotten stuck with someone this attractive as my mate?

When I woke up, I was confused. I hadn't woken up in this form since before I ran away... I moved slightly and I heard Chris mumble something incoherently in his sleep. He was warm, even though being in wolf form was wormer. I felt like the cave was empty, and my heart sunk when I remembered giving the pups away. I knew it had to be done, but I didn't like it. I managed to wiggle out of Chris' arms without waking him up, and then I phased and ran out of the cave and through the woods, following the path I had taken yesterday when I followed Chris. I stopped at the familiar tree, and I looked down at the town. Then I went behind the row of houses and made my way down the hill as I kept close to the ground, not wanting to be seen. I hid in the line of trees behind the third house and let out a long whine. I sniffed the air. My pups were in there, I could smell them. But I missed them. I wanted to see them again. I laid my head on my paws and closed my eyes, listening to the sounds inside. If I listened closely, I could hear them snoring softly. My tail started wagging. It took all of my self-control to not barge in there and take them back. The fact that I couldn't made me depressed. I whined again, then I decided that I shouldn't stay here much longer unless I wanted to be discovered. With a sigh, I got up and turned around, and I nearly had a heart attack when I saw that I was being watched.
