I used my wooden sword to attack an armour stand when I heard my friend Olivia ask me something. "Would you rather fight a 100 chicken sized zombies, or 10 zombie sized chickens?" She asked.
I pondered the question for awhile. "Just to be clear, you wouldn't have any weapons or armour." Olivia clarified.
"I'd have to go with the giant chickens. Not because I want to or because I think it would be easy, but because it would be an abomination." I answered. "Imagine their giant feet." She replied grabbing a piece of redstone. "Like I said, an abomination."
"So, I've got a daylight sensor on the roof. And if I did this right, the lamps should turn on once it gets dark." She continued. "Mhm." I said, not really paying attention. "I didn't want to leave Rueben here with nothing while we are at Endercon." Olivia said placing the redstone down.
My pet pig, Rueben, bumped into the armour stand as I put my sword away. "Um, he's coming with us." I said. "Really?" Olivia asked. "What kind of question is that? Of course he is!" I said annoyed.
"Okay. I'm not saying he shouldn't come. I'm not! But, don't you think its a little weird you take him with you everywhere you go?" She said. "He kinda makes us look like, I dunno.. amateurs." I glanced at Rueben who was glaring at Olivia. "Ruebens my best friend!" I replied. "I thought I was your best friend!" She said. "Both of you are."
"I didn't mean anything by it. I'm glad he's coming. I just don't want to give people one more reason to call us losers." She said looking down at the floor. "Who cares what other people think?" I said. "I know, I'm just- It wears you down." I looked at her. "You say your not a loser Olivia. So win." I said with a smile. She smiled back and said, "Okay fine." Just then I heard a hissing noise.
"Do you hear that?" I asked, it seemed to be coming from outside our treehouse. I looked at the trapdoor. "Oh no!" Olivia said.
"Boo!" A creeper popped out.
"Aaaaah!" I cried backing away. Rueben squealed and ran around. "Haha!" The creeper laughed and than, took his head off? I blinked. It was only my friend Axel. "You guys totally freaked out." He laughed. Thats when Rueben head butted him.
"Axel, whats the matter with you?" Olivia yelled, she still seemed freaked out about the creeper prank. "Great. Now I'm going to smell like a pig at Endercon."
"Thats what you get Axel." I said. "I brought you good times and now I'm being punished for it?" He asked. "You scared us half to death!" I yelled, I was really annoyed. "Nothing is fun if your not scared half to death." He replied. I glared at him. Axel was really annoying sometimes.
"Anyways, did you bring the fireworks?" Olivia asked Axel. "Of course I did, I even brought something for the little guy!" Axel said, pulling out a Ender Dragon costume. "You brought Rueben a disguise?" Olivia asked, raising her eyebrow. "Um, were going to a convention, somebody's gotta wear a costume." Axel said putting it on Rueben. Rueben oinked and ran around, pretending to be a real Ender Dragon. "He looks awesome!" I cheered.
"It only took me like a million hours to build it." Axel exaggerated. "You definitely brought the fireworks right?" Olivia asked. "Yes. I'm ready. Waiting on you guys." He said making his way towards the ladder where Olivia was. Olivia looked at Rueben and me. "See, now his your wingman." She said with a grin. "Stop." I said grinning back.
"Hurry up and grab your stuff." Axel said. "We'll meet you downstairs, okay?" Olivia said. "Okay!" I replied. I watched the two climb down the ladder then went to get my stuff from a nearby chest. I reached in and pulled out shears and flint and steel.
"Alright. Time to go Rueben!" I said, Rueben squealed and ran around me than I picked him up and we climbed down the ladder.
"Thats everything." Olivia said as I reached the bottom.
"Lets roll." Axel said.
"Yeah dude, roll." Olivia replied, imitating him.
"Um, lets go." I said putting Rueben down.
"I heard a pretty juicy rumour about the Endercon competition. But you guys have to promise not to tell." Axel said on the way to Endercon. "Also its in two parts, each more exciting than the last."
Feeling impatient I interrupted him, "Spit it out Axel!"
"Part 1; the special guest at this years Endercon is Gabriel the warrior himself!"
"Whoa!" I said. "Whats part two?"
"Part 2; according to my sources the winner of this years Endercon gets to meet him."
"It doesn't mean anything if we lose, but if we win, oh man. This will make for all the losing!" Axel said.
I wondered what it would be like to meet Gabriel. "Meeting Gabriel would be a dream and an honour."
"Tottally, he's awesome! It would be amazing to meet him!" Olivia said.
"Rueben better be careful in that costume though. The last time Gabriel saw a dragon, it didn't End well." Axel said. I rolled my eyes at that pun. I glanced at Olivia, she was looking around. "So, does this 'source' of yours make posters for a living?" She asked.
I stopped, there were Endercon posters everywhere!
"Um my source doesn't really exist. You guys are my only friends." He said scratching his head. "Guys lets stay focused. We have a competition to win." I said continuing.
"We never win Jesse." Olivia said. "And this year we got Rueben with us. We basically have no chance!" I looked at her.
"Anything can happen Olivia." I said.
"Than why have we lost nine of these in a row?" She retorted.
"You can't, no, you can't look at this as a whole. The odds are.. refreshed each time.." I looked at them. "Maybe no one else will show up?" I said with a grin.
"Now your being realistic." Olivia replied sarcastically.
I thought about our build for the Endercon competition and got an idea.
"Wait a minute.. wait a minute.. Were thinking about this all wrong!" I yelled. We all stopped. "The point of the building competition isn't just to build something. You have to do something to get noticed by the judges!"
"Okay, so how do we do this?" Olivia asked. "We don't just build something functional, we build something fun!" I replied.
"After we finish the fireworks machine like we planned, we build something cool on top of it!"
"You might be on to something." Olivia said. "If you want to get a reaction out of the judges you build something scary. So I say we build a creeper." Axel said. "Wouldn't an enderman be better? I'm more scared of Endermen then creepers." Olivia said.
While they bickered, I thought about what we should build. I couldn't chose. "Hmm. How about a zombie?" I suggested.
They both looked at each other. "Eh its a monster." Olivia said. "Yeah, they are pretty scary." Axel agreed.
I looked at them, I was surprised they were actually agreeing on something for once. "Okay is settled then, zombie it is!" I cheered.
"Wait, before we go lets grab some more supplies. Just in case." I said. They nodded. "Bring it in!" I said putting my hand in.
"Dare to prepare on three, nope! Preparing is daring, nope, thats the same thing. Forget it! Team on three." I said. " 1.. 2.. 3!" We all yelled and ran off in different directions.
