Promises To Keep

My name is Rosie, where I got that name? Oh i don't know maybe because of my red velvet hair and my pail skin. I am 16, and what lays ahead is something I never thought would happen.

I couldn't believe this was happening to me. I turned to face my best friend since kindergarten,Matthew. I smiled so he wouldn't see my pain.We've been best friends for a long time and his dream was to become a singer and I supported him,but only because I never thought it happen so soon. He's been in so many singing contest and has won more than half of them and I was proud. The last contest we had was special because it was live and everyone would be able to see it and yet again,he won. After the contest we grabbed some pizza to celebrate and then he walked me home only to find a text from him 15 minutes later...

I was in total shock!

It read,

" you'd never believe what happened! I got a record deal and there flying me to the studio on Friday! Meet me at the park in 5,HURRY!" -Matthew

My gut was in a twist and butterflies were going up and down my stomach. He didn't know it but last year I started liking him and knowing he's leaving on Friday,hurt. But I had to support him so I ran towards the park as fast as I could only to see him waiting there. I had to do anything to make myself not cry. I turned pretending to watch a car that passes by.

I turned to face my best friend, I smiled so he wouldn't see the pain.

"Are you happy for me?" He muttered in a kind of romantic voice,I've never heard that voice before." Of course I am,I mean this is your dream isn't it?" I said in a smooth calm voice. " well yeah but...never mind it will just change everything you think of me" he said gently turning his head. "No it won't just tell me,Friday is two days away anyways" I said in a excited tone in my voice and what came out of his mouth shocked me! " ok well,ummm how do I put this...remember that day that you turned 15 and I asked you if you wanted to go out for pizza?" "Yes of course I do!" I said in a joyed voice. "Well that day was the day I never looked at you the same way" he said softly. I have to be honest I was a bit confused. "Wait,what do you mean?" I said in shock. " I'm saying uhh god dammit I love you Rosie! I don't know how and I don't know why but I just love you,I love your sparkle in your eyes and your beautiful hair and you small hands!" He put his arms around my waist and pulled me closer and closer bit by bit. " I'm really glad you said that because I love you to" I whispered into his ear when I was close enough and wrapped my arms around him. Time stopped and we stood there and I gently pulled back but he pulled me in closer. "Promise me you'll wait for me and I'll wait for you,promise me you won't change." He whispered."I promise" I said softly. He looked me in the eyes and put his forehead on mine "you are the most beautiful girl in the world you know that right?" I laughed and he smiled. He walked me home and I laid in bed thinking about him while I drifted to sleep.

The next day I didn't see him at all and I really wanted to spend the whole day with him but I guess not. I got home and felt a spark in me and I didn't know what it was, I started craving ice cream and out of know where Ice cream flew towards me. I started to freak out,but eventually got over it. Time passed quickly and I drifted to sleep.

I woke up to the sound of my window opening and found a letter on the floor. I thought it was the wind but I gently picked up the letter and it was from Matthew. I had no explanation for it but I shaked it off. I opened the letter.

"Dear Rosie,

Sorry I wasn't around yesterday I had to pack. Remember our promise ok? Love you! Well I'm on my way already so I guess this is bye. Bye baby. Even though we're not dating your my baby.

Love,Matthew"

I paused and stared I couldn't help but cry a river. I guess love does hurt but then all of a sudden there was a knock at the front door, my mom was at work so I was forced to get it. I opened it and I couldn't believe my eyes.
