It was a clear night with a full moon hanging in the starry night sky over the sparse cemetery. I was laying flowers on my parents graves. My mother had died giving birth to me and my father had died during a mission when I was eighteen years old. I am 21 years old now and I follow in my father's footsteps as a trained mercenary. I do an occasional mission here and there but I mostly work at the police station. That was where I had met Seras.
I straightened up and started walking to the park across from the cemetery to clear my head of my thoughts. Seras had been sent to a small town called Cheddar because of all the disappearances happening there. I was busy doing paperwork from a previous case so I couldn't join them. They were said to have been all killed. Some of the other officers have said I was lucky I hadn't gone but I ignored them. How could I be lucky when my best friend and the only other female on the force was dead?! If only I was there! I could've helped he-
The wind blew harshly cutting off my thoughts. I immediately wrapped my arms around myself and shivered. I knew I should've grabbed my coat! Stupid, stupid! I was definitely not dressed for the weather. I was only wearing a (f/c) dress that went to my knees and black combat boots. I was also wearing a silver cross around my neck. I was Christian like my father and he had instilled in me all the superstitions of the monsters that hid in the shadows like demons and vampires. I've had a few run ins with the latter so I always made sure to have a gun with blessed bullets in my purse.
I had been walking in the park for a while now and decided to rest on a bench nearby. I sat back with my eyes closed, listening to the wind blowing through the branches, the crickets chirping, the twigs snapping- wait, what?!
I sat up completely alert. Slowly I grabbed my gun from my purse and listened to find out where it was coming from. It was right behind me. I raised my gun quickly a pointed it at-
"Seras?!?" I yelled in surprise at the spiky-haired female that was now hugging me to death having gotten rid of the gun with a simple technique all officers knew. She hadn't changed a bit! Her hair was still short and spiky, she was still the same height, her eyes still bright blue, and her breasts were smothering me as I was still trapped in her hug. I pushed her back and held her by her shoulders, examining her closely. She had on a new uniform that had short sleeves, an almost shorter skirt, and a crest that said 'Hellsing'. There were also two marks on her neck, the sign of being turned into a vampire.
"You're a vampire now? How did that happen? When? Where have you been all this time?" I asked her, still holding her at arms length, not sure of what she might do now that she was a vampire.
She looked at me with that sheepish smile of hers.
"(Y/N), I promise to tell you everything as soon as we are somewhere private. I won't hurt you by the way. I do not drink blood and even if I wanted to, I wouldn't be able to because of your cross." She said, pointing to my necklace.
I held onto my cross as I examined her. It's true, she wouldn't be able to hurt me and if she had wanted to, wouldn't she have attacked me instead of hugging me? I sighed.
"Fine. Let's go to my house and you better tell me everything."
She nodded and walked in the direction I had came from. I followed her, knowing that this was going to be a long night. So that's the first chapter! Sorry if it's a little long, that's just how I operate so if you don't like it, turn back now before you possibly die from long chapters. If you stick around to the end, then you deserve a medal! Anyway, I'm heading to bed, got some more brainstorming to do. Goodnight and Happy New Year!
