Today was the day, today was the day I would be able to find my mate! Maybe he would take me from this god forsaken place. I wouldn't be the girl who's parents were rogues. Let's just say I had high hopes for this. Even me, the Omega of the Black Forest pack was to be there.
I squealed in front of the mirror as Karen spun me around.
"Stop, please," I managed to cough out through my laughter.
"Never!!" She shouted right back.
Karen was the only friend I really had here. Everyone was nice to me, but I knew they barely tolerated my existence. It wasn't exactly my fault that my parents had run away, and left me here to fend for myself. I was known as the weakest of the pack, the Omega. Karen had it lucky compared to me. Her family was only in the Kappa section of the pack, but she had many friends and was well liked. Nobody would ever like me. The punching bag, the failure, the orphan. I had heard it all. It didn't bother me anymore. Soon I would find my mate. Then everything would be fine!
"You look wonderful you know," Karen tells me.
"Well, I would look better if someone hadn't spun me around so much that I feel sick." I retorted.
She put her hands up in defeat.
"But, seriously, you look good. All the boys will be staring at you" She laughs.
"Come on then, we need to go. Everyone already hates me. I'd love to see what they think of me now!" I chuckle.
"Well then lets go!" she replies.
Today was the Mate Ball, all the female and male werewolves of age from around Europe would go to the ball. I was 17 so this was my first year of eligibility. It was rare to have unmated werwolves past the first year but the age limit went to 28. I was pretty sure that I would find my mate year. I wondered what he would look like. Was he tall? Would he be kind? Was he a rogue or in a pack?
All these thoughts and more rushed through my head as we boarded the pack bus, me of course having to stand up, but I didn't care. Somewhere in that ballroom would be my mate. My wolf howled in anticipation. To pass the time I started up a conversation with Eve, my wolf. My wolf was silver. A rare colour in werewolves. My ears where a foxy red though.
Are you actually going to talk to me or are you going to think about other things?
I rolled my eyes mentally. Seriously Eve?
You know you love me.
Oh, do I?
Oh yes you do. You want proof?
Nah, I'll pass. Anyway are you excited about the Mate Ball.
I can smell our mate from here.
You can?
Yeah. He smells like Lemon pie...
Snap out of it. We're almost there. Strike that. We are here.
I close of our conversation as the bus grinds to a stop. I looked forward to it, but now I freeze. What if he rejects me? What if he says he hates me?
Don't worry, it'll be fine
How do you know?
I just do...
Stepping onto the steps of the palace in which the ball was held, I took a deep breath.
We can do this. Lets go.
I walk up the steps to the very top and go through the doors...

The interior of the hall is amazing, wide windows, tall arches and even taller roofs. I can see three large tables, already set up by the hosting pack, the Blue Moon pack's omega. I wondered who he/she was?
Then, a wonderful scent filled my nose, it seemed to come from two different places though. Confused, I went for the closest one and walked straight into a body. A toned body, that felt like I was crashing into a wall. A body that smelt extremely good.
MATE!!!!
The guy turned around and looked right in my eyes.
This is it. He'll take me and we'll be fine!!!
"Who are you?"He asks, "I know your my mate, but who are you?"
"Siren Everlark, daughter of the rogues. Omega of the Black Forest pack." I says shyly.
"Your the omega?" He sneers.
I flinch back.
Why doesn't he want us? He's our mate.
"I don't want an Omega for a mate." He says harshly, "My twin and your other mate, won't want you too."
I stumble back.
No, he shouldn't do this. Why is he doing this? No, no, no!
He then says,"I Cole Parks, Half-Alpha of the Moon Shadow pack, hereby reject Siren Everlark, Omega of the Black Forest pack."
As soon as he finishes the last word I stumble back. He does too and winces in pain. I don't though, years of rough treatment and abuse have made me immune to this. I march out with my head held high, even though inside I am dying. Eve is whimpering in pain, I hear a scuffle inside, but who would care enough to help me? I hear my name being called and run. They'll never find me because I'll never go back.
