-MELIODAS POV-
I was panicking. I couldn't control my breathing. They were uneven, ragged breaths. I continued to sprint through the polished white halls of the school, my shoes squeaking on the tile floor. My head was growing sore and my vision fuzzy. I burst into the classroom and sat in my seat, holding my head in my hands. 'I already have social anxiety! Why did I have to mess up before the first bell?!' I thought bitterly. I realized my breathing was still quite fast, and focused on that. In. Hold. Out. In. Hold. Out. Repeating this four times, I felt much more calm. But then I thought about the girl. A 'princess'. I messed up. I ran straight into her, and nearly dropped her due to my stupid panic attacks. She... was staring at me. And her eyes... they looked like 'hers', a tropical sea blue and full of light. She had the same... feel. A feel of kindness. Of calm. But she was a princess. And I knew that friends would never be a thing I would have.
"Meliodas! Listen to me!" Replacing those memorizing eyes, Mr. Cains' face was shoved right up to mine, his white beard tickling my cheeks.
"Hi, Mr. Cains!" I sent him a small smile. His tensed shoulders relaxed and he returned my smile.
"It looked like you were having a panic attack again. I got worried and when you wouldn't answer me, I started to panic!" He laughed. I smiled again and tilted my head to the right, my hair falling into my eyes.
"I was having one, but I've calmed down now. I... ran into a new student. The princess. I-I mean I caught her, but I still... ya know," I muttered, rubbing the back of my neck with a small frown. "I hate this. I hate me!" I yelled, closing my eyes and slamming my fists onto my desk, shards of the wood digging into my skin. I opened my eyes and looked at the broken shards of metal and wood. Even part of the pristine tile floor was cracked slightly. I glanced up at Mr. Cains, who... looked terrified. 'No, no, no I scared him! Dammit!' I thought.
"Was that... your full strength?" He asked timidly. I told him the truth, like an idiot.
"No." My voice was tiny, shaking. My face was wet, and my vision was blurred by the tears building in my eyes. I hate crying. I expected Mr. Cains to turn away, leave me with fear in his eyes, and hatred in his heart. Like everyone else did. I closed my eyes as I heard his footsteps, more tears sneaking out of my eyes. My hands clenched into fists as he walked to the front of the classroom. But suddenly, I was lifted out of my seat and warm arms wrapped around my back. My eyes flew open, my fist clenched tighter, tears flowed like rivers flow into oceans. He was hugging me. Hugging me. A loud, raw sob escaped my throat as I threw my arms around the old man, and sobbed until the first bell rang. We had cleaned up my seat and I threw water in face when the first kids walked through the the door. The Sins. With the princess.-ELIZABETH POV-
"Hey Diane, who was that kid that caught me?" I asked, glancing up at the tall girl. She put a finger to her mouth and stared into space, thinking. One minute. Two minutes. Three minutes.
"I don't know. But he was cute!" She exclaimed, skipping away. I glanced over to King. The poor boy looked like a giant crushed his heart. It may have been a giant who just skipped away.
"...King? Are you okay?" I asked quietly. He glanced up at me, he gold eyes duller than they were just a minute ago.
"I just want her to acknowledge me..." He mumbled, kicking away a rock. I frowned, and placed a hand on his shoulder. He looked up again, sending me a small smile.
"You'll get her," I smiled. Eyes growing bright again, he nodded and sent me a large grin, running towards the tall girl. I sighed. 'These are friends. This is what I was missing.' I grinned and ran up toward everyone else. The bell rang a loud, melodic sound and everyone ran toward the doors ahead. I glanced at my schedule as I felt Diane rest her head on my shoulder.
"We have the same homeroom! So does everyone else, except Merlin who is being a foreign exchange student at a school in Camelot." She yelled right in my ear, but I kept smiling.
"Great!" I smiled, and started running in the direction of the room-from the map.
"A race?! I'll win!" I heard Ban yell behind me, and soon, a white haired blur raced past me. A tall figure followed him and then a a short one after that. Gowther just strolled up next to me.
"I never under stand this," he muttered. I smiled and kept running. The door outside the classroom was full of people shoving others to get through, and many curses were being yelled. Ban and the rest leaned against the door frame, not even breathing hard. Ban shoved past everyone and we followed right after him. We entered the room, and I looked around. We weren't the first in the room. A boy sat at his desk. And he was staring straight at me. He had blonde hair, but those eyes were the eyes that had been the ones staring at me not even ten minutes ago. Bright green, and full of fear.
"Take a random seat, I'll tell you where to sit in a minute," the teacher saI sat on one side of Diane, King took the other side and Gowther and Ban sat behind us. But I didn't break eye contact with the blonde haired boy. He looked young, younger than a junior in high school-which is what we are-and seemed like he was perfectly fine. But his eyes showed he was scared beyond belief.
"Princess Elizabeth Liones-"
"Please, just call me Elizabeth!" I smiled at the teacher. He nodded, and smiled back. "You will sit next to Melodias. Melodias, raise your hand," the teacher instructed. Slowly, all the eyes in the room went to the small blonde haired boy who was holding his hand up. His hand was shaking. Gathering up my things I sat down next to him.
"Hey, thank you for earlier. I'm really clumsy," I smiled. But Melodias didn't lift his head up one inch. His hand stopped shaking though. I tilted my head in curiosity, my hair falling into my eyes. "Are you okay?" I asked quietly. The boy shook his head slightly.
"Can you tell me... why?" I asked quietly. He shook his head again. I spent all hour trying to get a word out of him. Zero. He didn't make a sound.
