New character :))

            Karly’s POV

When my parents announced that we were moving to a new state, I wasn’t totally against the idea. In fact, I kind of liked it. I would be getting an amazing opportunity to start over with a group of people that knew nothing about me. They wouldn’t know how much of a nerd I was, how I really didn’t have many friends, and especially how much of an outcast I tend to be.

It was a pretty sweet deal. So I made no fuss when it came to packing; I didn’t have much to pack anyway. My current wardrobe was extremely simple and basically consisted of jeans and T-shirts. I usually just threw on whatever would fit on my petite 5’ 1” frame.

I knew that appearance was a big thing that had to change. Being the average-looking person I am, a trip to the mall was much needed. Persuading my parents to let me give myself a total makeover wasn’t hard; my mom was ecstatic that I was actually putting thought into how I looked and my dad was quick to give me the cash because he felt guilty for making me move mid-school year.

In one trip to our local mall, I got myself clothes from top stores, tons of makeup, lots of shoes and accessories, and lastly, I got my hair done. My locks were now jet black and had layers. My mom even offered to take me out to get contacts, but I refused to part with my large Ray-Bans. Looking in the mirror on the first day of my new school, I was crazy happy and beyond excited to turn some heads.

Blanet Private High School was pretty amazing. The campus was amazing with its lush green grass, abundant flowers, and tall trees. The school building itself was well-kept and very modern looking.

I immediately wished I had brought my camera to take some shots. I quickly reprimanded myself, I would look stupid if I did anything like that. On the drive here, I decided that the best way to make as many friends as possible was to be really outgoing and sweet. Remembering that, I made my way through the crowd of students and into the school.

Almost instantly, I saw a door labeled ‘front office.' Here I go, I thought as I pushed open the door and walked up to the main desk. The secretary looked up as I came into her view.

Smiling brightly, I said, “Good morning; I’m new?”

She looked to be in her mid-forties, and despite the bags under her eyes, she smiled warmly at me, “You must be Karly.” I nodded with the very fake smile still plastered on my face.

She looked around her cluttered desk until she found a piece of paper that she handed to me.  “This is your schedule. Since we rarely get new students here at Blanet High, most are with us since freshmen year, I’ve arranged for Charles Baker to give you a tour this morning. He’s the school president so I figured he would be the best candidate. You can ask him any question you have. Does that sound good?”

“Sounds great. Thanks so much.”

“No problem, just wait right outside, he should be here in a minute.” I gave her one more smile, for good measure, and stepped outside.

The front office was located in the school’s main hall, along with the principals, school nurse, and when seemed to be more offices. This are also had no lockers or classrooms, those seemed to be farther towards the school’s center. I guess the morning rush of students had come and gone because the few that I did see come in looked so obviously guilty that they were late. That’s something you don’t see everyday; I guess the students took school seriously here. This is an expensive school, but luckily they offered scholarships to just about anyone who could keep up with material above their grade level. That would include about had the school.
