Chapter 44

Chris stumbled until his back was against the wall. His hand was cover his chest and covered in blood. Danny shot a few more times until Chris collapsed to the ground.

He reached into his pocket for a cellphone. "I need an ambulance and a backup." Danny said. "I'll explain when the chief gets here!" He raised his voice before hanging up. Danny put the gun back into holster before stepping in front of Chris.

Danny got down on his knees and checked for a pulse. "Shit. Eric is going to kill me for this." Danny sighed. A second later, he felt his throat tighten to where he could almost breathe. Danny shut his eyes tightly and reached to touch his neck. He realized his hands were around someone else's.

"Eric's going to kill you?" A voice in front of Danny asked. He opened his eyes to see bright red ones inches from his face. He gasped when Chris stood up and forcing Danny to stand. Chris slightly tossed his head back and laughed. "I highly doubt that."

Danny reached for his weapon and fired again into Chris's chest. He just raised his drawn on eyebrow before shaking his head. "Honestly give it up. You can't kill a demon without proper tools." Danny stared at him. "No such thing." He choked.

Chris opened his mouth to speak when he heard footsteps outside the door. "Please. He's not here! I swear." Katherine was crying. "Shut up." A man's voice said. A loud bang was heard followed by a muffled thump. Chris tensed up and tightened his grip on Danny's throat.

Danny was unable to breathe and struggled to free himself. "He fucking hurt her, I swear I'm going to kill him slowly and painfully!" Chris's voice sounded distorted and angry. He threw Danny's body against the wall to finish him off. The doorknob was turning frantically.
