Chapter 4: It's okay

Parker's POV

"Parker, I'm gay. I never dated because I didn't want to fake any attraction to girls and I didn't want to date guys because I didn't want to come out yet. But while I was an England, I met this guy and that when I realized I didn't want to hide that part of me anymore."

"Kendal, why-"

"I'm sorry if you're mad that I kept this or if you're disgusted with me, but I couldn't keep it any longer!"

"I'm sorry Kendal-"I watch Kendal race to his bathroom and slam the door shut. I quickly walk over to the door and lean against the door.

"Kendal, please open the door. Let me explain what I was going to say." Just listen to me Kendal, please.

"You don't have to explain, I know what you were going to say. You might as well just leave and spare me the pain." I don't say anything after that because I have nothing to say and because it will only make the situation worse.

I sit against the door and listen to his heart breaking sobs. If only he would have heard me out. I was going to ask why he thought he couldn't tell me and apologize for coming off that way. I am a little mad that he didn't tell me but I could never hate him for something he can't help. I bring my knees to my chest, rest my head on my knees, and fall asleep.

I'm awaken when I feel the door move and I fall backwards, pushing the door open more. I open my eyes and see Kendal trying to sneak past me. I get up quickly and pull Kendal towards me. He releases a quiet, high pitch scream and struggles to get away. I pull him to my chest and hug him as tightly as I can without hurting him.

"You are going to listen to what I have to say this time whether you want to or not. I don't hate you Kendal. I'm completely fine that you are gay and I'm sorry that I came off homophobic. Kendal, look at me." He slowly lifts himself from my chest and slowly looks me in the eyes. I place my hands on his shoulder to make sure he doesn't turn away.

"You have been my best friend for years. I will never leave you because of the way you were born. Never expect that I will leave you over something like this." I see more tears pooling out of Kendal's eyes and he crashes his body into mine.

"Thank you so much Parker! I'm so glad you are accepting of this!" He pushes himself off of me and I see the biggest smile that has been on his face since the day he was accepted to study abroad. I stand up and him up as well.

"So, what do you want to do today?" he asks.

"How about you freshen up in here, I go freshen up in the downstairs bathroom, and then we go get pizza at the mall like old times." He nods his head and then pushes me out of the bathroom.

In a span of thirty minutes, we're on our way to the mall. Kendal plugs in his phone and clicks on the playlist I made on his Spotify while he was gone. We both have access to it so every week while he was gone; I added one song that I had enjoyed. He did the same so we could both see each other's change in music taste. He clicked shuffle and Cake by the Ocean by DNCE came on.

"Are you kidding me Parker?" He asks while giving me a weird look.

"What, I'm digging song at the moment." The chorus comes up when we get to a red light.

"Let's lose our minds and go fucking crazy, I-I-I-I-I-I keep on hoping we'll eat cake by the ocean." I turn to look at Kendal and see him mumbling and tapping his foot to the song.

"Are you kidding me Kendal?" I ask in my mocking voice.

"Shut up Parker. I finally realized that it is a good song. Now hurry up and drive, the light is green and we don't need the people behind us honking."

So, there's the next part. Hope everybody had fun and safe holidays, I know I did. I'm sorry if this part is a little shorter than the others. Since it's the holidays I've been trying to spend it with my family but I also wanted to give you guys a new chapter.
