"If you like to do the things you know that we shouldn't do, then baby I'm perfect for you."
~
I can't stop shaking. Today is my first day going to an actual school, not just the tiny private schools I've grown up with. Today is my first day of my junior year.
My family has just moved out to Chicago, Illinois because there's "bigger and better things out here" as my dad would say. He really means, "Nevada sucked and I was barely getting enough money to pay for your extremely expensive school so we moved here so I can get more money and also be closer to your brother who visited out here to be with his best friend when he was only seventeen."
I was okay with the move, though. At my old school, there were only 200 kids total and it was kindergarten all the way to 12th grade. I had one friend named Jay, but we weren't that close anyhow, just someone to keep me company at school.
We moved out here because over summer, my brother Louis came to visit his best friend, Harry. Louis loved it here so much that he convinced our father to move here. None of us were complaining, though. It just means more money and more people to associate ourselves with.
Louis' best friend Harry moved out here when I was eleven and Louis was twelve. Louis and Harry were inseparable growing up. When Louis found out he was old enough and responsible enough to fly out to see Harry for the summer, he was stoked.
Harry was from England but moved to the U.S. when he was three years old. He met Louis at a McDonald's playground, go figure.
I look down at my ripped blue skinny jeans, my old black vans, and my black knitted sweater. I liked my outfit a lot, but I wasn't sure if I'd fit in. I've always been a bit different than other kids.
Louis rushes into my room in his usual black t-shirt and jeans that were way too tight for his living.
"Remi, come on, we have to go or else we'll be late you pene!"
Louis always gave me strange names. We have a close relationship, and we've hardly fought. I love my brother and we always look out for each other.
I sigh as I check my hair one last time, making sure it still looks okay. I sling my backpack over my shoulder and leave my bedroom, trying to mentally prepare myself for my first day of school.
I've gone to a private school my whole entire life. It's just one classroom, with about 10 people- 12 at most. We do all our classes in that one room with the same people. All the grades eat lunch together, and you bring your own. Buying my own lunch is going to be so weird. We would wear uniforms unless it was a free dress day, and even then the dress code was really strict.
This school has over 1,000 kids, and I'm so nervous.
I just want to fit in.
This is Louis's first day of public school, too. Louis is a senior and I'm a junior. Louis's friend Harry is also a junior. I hope I have classes with him, it'd be nice to see a familiar face other than my brother's.
I haven't seen Harry in over 5 years, so I don't even know what he looks like. I can't even remember him much besides the time he stayed the night at our house.
He only stayed over once, and when he did, it was the most fun I have ever had. We all played video games all day, made egg salad sandwiches, and watched horror movies.
I was eight, and I didn't know what anything meant.
I used to say I was in love with him, but I never knew what it meant.
Louis snaps me out of my thoughts as we arrived to the massive school. I took a deep breath as both me and Louis stepped out. We walked into the building and went our separate ways to find our lockers.
My first class was English. I made my way to the room that held about 30 students in it. I sat at a spot, and class began. The teacher had us introduce ourselves, and say something about ourselves.
Halfway through the class, the door swung open and a tall boy with curly hair walked in. He was wearing tight black pants, and a Ramones shirt. He had some tattoos on his arms and a nose ring in. I'd be lying if I said he wasn't attractive.
He sat down at the only available spot left in the room, next to me. I forgot I was staring at him, until he snapped me out of my thoughts.
"Will you please stop staring at me?! God, ugly freak," he snapped.
My mouth fell open. I was shocked at how rude someone could be.
The rest of the period went on with him shooting my dirty looks, and insulting me under his breath every time I said something.
At the end of class, the teacher walked to the boys desk and looked him dead in the eye.
"Harry, it's the first day, why on earth were you late?!"
My mouth fell open. This couldn't be Harry. No. No way.
The Harry boy just smirked and got up and left, I followed behind to head to my next class.
"Do me a favor, cow, and quit staring at me," Harry spat.
I could do nothing else but nod. I began walking to my drama class thinking heavily over the situation. This just can't be Harry, not the Harry I knew. I had only 6 short minutes of thinking before the bell rang, and my drama class started.
It was 50 minutes of the old teacher explaining the plans for the year. He was kind of short, and mean looking, but he was actually really nice.
Before I knew it, the bell for my third period rang, meaning PE. I found the gymnasium quickly, and walked in to see the Harry boy in just his gym shorts, revealing his perfectly toned body. He spotted me and rolled his eyes.
"Oh great, you again," he spat.
This is going to be a long period.~~
