"Look. The sun's rising."
I look to the mouth of the cave. He's right. I was so absorbed in my story that I lost track of time. I clear my throat and ask, "Could you, maybe, take me outside? I love the woods in the morning."
He nods and, groaning slightly, stands up and stretches. Then he gently picks me up and begins moving to the opening. I inwardly wince at every stride. He steps around a few of the monsters lying on the floor, careful not to tread on their bodies. Finally, we're outside. I'm set on a large patch of grass.
A familiar neigh sounds behind us. I look up, and see a large face in front of mine. I reach up and stroke my faithful horse's face. He young man to my right tries to push him away.
Is he actually scared for me? Maybe he thinks my horse will step on me?
"It's alright, really," I say, "he's very well trained."
He still looks apprehensive, so I ask, "What more could he possibly do, really?"
The man winces, but releases my steed. Glaring at the horse pointedly, he seems to, from my point of view, convey a message of warning. Then, surprisingly, the horse neighs and appears to nod.
That's just your imagination. Your horse can't be conspiring with him. No way that's even possible, unless... no. I've done my job too well for that.
My thoughts are interrupted by his voice. "What were their names? Your parents, I mean," he clarifies.
"My mother's name was Ivette and my father's name was... is Gregory. Any more questions before I continue?" He shakes his head in the negative. "Alright."
I go on.

Also, despite living in a rural community, I don't know much about horses, so I may have messes a few things up. Please feel free to correct me if something is wrong!
