Prologue

My room was darkened. I sat on my bed with my knees curled up to my chest, my forehead rested on the top of them. This was my quiet place, this was where I didn't have to hide. I could be free here. Uncle came today...he wouldn't stop staring at me. Like he was waiting for something. He creeps me out. Because of him I had locked myself away in here. I sigh and look up from my knees just as my door opens. The figure in the door, I knew well. "Senri." I say acknowledging him. He steps inside and closes the door. "Setsuna, mother and I missed you at dinner. Uncle was asking for you." He says walking over to me and sitting on my bed beside me. "Is he gone?" I ask. Senri nods. "Good." I say slightly relieved. Senri was the only one who knew how I felt about Uncle. He knew I was scared of him. "Pocky?" Senri asks holding out a box of chocolate pocky. "Thanks." I say before I grab one with my teeth. We sit in silence, eating our pocky. "I'm leaving." He says all of a sudden. "What?" I ask, knowing he didn't mean leaving the room, he meant leaving in general. "Where to?" I ask. "Cross Academy. I'm joining the Night Class with Rima." He says not looking at me. "But..!" I bite my tongue, though I wanted him to stay, I couldn't say it aloud. "But what?" He asks. I shake my head. "Nothing." I say. He's leaving me to deal with Uncle alone...I don't want to be alone with Uncle.. "Okay." He says and takes another pocky. "When do you leave?" I ask. "Tomorrow." He says. My eyes narrow slightly. "Oh." I say. "You can come too. Uncle won't bother you there." He says. "I can?" I ask. "Yes. You were invited too. See?" He says holding out a piece of paper. I take it and read over the contents. A name catches my attention. Kaname Kuran...but that's...why would he..? "Kuran? But he's the nephew of-" Senri cuts me off. "I know." He says. "You...accepted? But why, after what That Man did to mother?" I ask. "Yes. So did you. I've heard he's different than That Man." He says. Something he says catches my attention immediately. "What did you say? Who accepted?" I ask. "You and I both accepted." He says. "What? But this is the first time I'm even hearing about this, how could I have accepted?" I ask. "I answered for you. Unless you want to stay here and continue hiding from Uncle." He says looking at me. "I don't want to stay here." I say. "Then it's settled. Pack your things, I will come get you in a few minutes." He says, gets up, and walks towards my door. "A few minutes? But I thought you didn't leave until tomorrow." I say. He stops. "When I told Uncle, he got angry and stormed out. He didn't like the idea of us leaving." He says. "Do you think he'll..." I trail off. "I don't doubt it." He says. "Could you stay with me while I pack then? I don't want to be alone if he does try it." I say. He nods and walks to my wardrobe. He opens it up after grabbing a suitcase and begins packing my things. I grab another suitcase and begin packing my more delicate things. Two suitcases and a bag later, Senri and I are walking to his room. Once inside, we begin packing his things. Due to him being a Model, he cannot lift anything remotely heavy, for chance of gaining more muscle than his manager wants, so I carry his heavier suitcase, while he carries a light bag. Due to my eye color, I was unable to be a Model. All the vampire race knew of That Man's actions, and many looked at me like I was just as bad. Maybe they all see something I don't... I shake out of my musings when Senri stops. "Senri..?" I ask. He doesn't answer, just keeps looking forward. I glance around him, seeing Uncle standing there looking at us, I quickly hide behind Senri. "Hello Uncle." He says. "Senri." Uncle says. "Setsuna, nice to see you, for once." Uncle says, sending shivers down my spine. I reluctantly walk out from behind Senri. "Uncle." I say quietly. "Where are the two of you off to at this hour?" Uncle asks. "School." Senri says. "Ah...Setsuna, you too?" Uncle says. "Yes. Senri, can we go?" I ask. "Why the rush Setsuna, after-all it's been quite a while since we've talked. Aren't you happy to see your Uncle?" Uncle asks. No. "Yes, of course I am Uncle, but we really should be going, right Senri?" I ask. Senri nods. "That's correct." Senri says. "I see...then allow me to help you with those bags. They must be a nuisance." Uncle says stepping towards me. I step away quickly. He takes another step and I do the same. "Setsuna?" Uncle asks clearly getting angry. "I'm fine Uncle. I do not need your help." I say. Uncle glares at me but quickly composes himself. "Very well then. Safe travels." Uncle says before starting to walk down the hall where we came from. "Be seeing you." Uncle says stopping next to me briefly, to speak, it was low enough that only I heard him. "Goodbye Uncle." I say. He says nothing more and walks away. Once he's gone, the air seems to lighten, but I am still shaken. Be seeing you... Uncle's words repeat in my head. "Let's go. The driver should be here shortly." Senri says seemingly unfazed. I take a deep breath and exhale. "Okay." I say. We walk to the front doors and leave soon after.

Author's Note- I don't know about you guys, but I never EVER liked that uncle of Shiki's in the anime. Like he literally gives me the creeps every time he pops up. Any-who, hope you liked the chapter, give some feed back if ya want, same goes for the vote. Byes!
