It was a beautiful day in Vinta, a gorgeous and well protected city. However, everything would change. Everyone went about their day, knowing that everyday they would be safe.

"Hey! Get back here you little brat!" A store keeper yelled. Alice Robert was already out the shop, quite quick on her feet. She bit into the bread she stole, not stopping at all. She found stealing dangerous, but loved the thrill. Vinta was safe, but thieves lived throughout the whole city.

Alice quickly slipped into a building, looking around at the surroundings. Empty. Perfect for her. She quietly crept upstairs. It looked abandoned. Alice glanced at the clock. It was 5:30 AM. School didn't start until a another few hours. She turned on the radio, loving to listen to the news.

"Good morning Vinta! It's quite a nice day don't you think Jimmy?" The radio rang. A male voice spoke. "Yeah Sophie. The weather is nice and warm, the sun outside quite early." Alice bit into the bread. She listened closely. "What a nice day, but today, we've learned of a death. A women was found dead in her apartment, no traces of bruises or cuts. The doctors are trying to figure out this mysterious end of a life." Alice's eyes widen. This was the first death in years! The city was really well protected and no one was ever hurt. "I know Sophie. The women's name was Delilah Heart, I remember her delicious cookies. We already miss her..." The radio continued to drone on, Alice still in shock. Delilah use to take care of her when her mother was at work. She dropped to her knees, her expression filled with anger and sadness. She was taken out of her trance with a voice.

"Who's there?!" Someone yelled from downstairs. Alice shrieked in her mind, grabbing her bag and opening a window quickly. She climbed out, jumping down and almost falling face first. She landed on her feet luckily. She sprinted out, trying to reach her small shelter.

Alice Robert's Point of View

I opened the door to my small house. The kitchen, dining room, living room, and bedroom were all in the same room. The only other room was the bathroom. I sighed and put away some apples and cheese I stole. I checked my small clock. 6:56 AM. School started around 7:30. I walked over to my small closet and quickly changed into something that didn't look horrible. I brushed my teeth again, washed my face to clean the dirt off, and fixed the rat's nest I call my hair. I grabbed my backpack, filled with a bunch of useless textbooks and notebooks, and headed out for school. Delilah's death was on my mind. She was pretty old, her time was coming. I knew that, but I missed her so much. Maybe I ignored her because she reminded me of my mother...
