The Last Witch

By: Analyce Williams & Emily Brentley

The Prophecy

In the time of the last witch, there will be a fae to switch. If there is another choice, the witch will be the only voice. The fae can choose to lie if the witch plans to die…

Chpt. 1

Adrian

“Adrian, look at me!”

I look up to find my reflection is the source of the voice.

“Adrian, don’t you dare!”

I smile and twirl away from the huge mirror that is on the inside on my walk-in closet. Natasha is waiting patiently on the other side. I slip on my fresh, clean shirt, pull on my skirt and flip-flops and grab my bag. I open the door.

“Ready?” I ask Natasha.

She nods, “Your room is so cute!”

Natasha was one of the girls who could care less if anyone liked them. I believe the proper term is loner. Anyway, she isn’t a classic loner, she actually recognizes cute things.

I smile weakly, “Thanks. Man, I sure am gonna miss this place.”

I hear the car horn blare from outside, signifying that Eve is here. We had all chipped in for a rental car and Eve somehow became the designated driver. Natasha picked her bag up from its spot on my bed. I lead her downstairs to the front door. I dropped my bag and turned around to give hugs to my family members. Eve came inside and grabbed my bag, escorting Natasha to the car. They loaded up our bags and Natasha climbed in the back. We had picked a silver, mustang convertible with black racing stripes. The rental place had agreed to pick it up at the park and ride, where we were loading the coach bus. I climbed into the passenger seat and waved goodbye as we pulled out of the drive. Our parents thought we were going to a boarding school. We were really going to ‘The Games’ where it is basically crowd control for people like us. We had regular lessons for nine months then for two, we trained. The last month, we played ‘The Games.’ I had read a book once called, ‘The Hunger Games’ and it basically summed up what we were doing. We could only kill during week two though, and then we had to survive another week. The team with the most kills wins. Last year, they had taken Alex Sparks, Eve’s neighbor, and his team won. There are six people per team and I no doubtedly would be put with Eve. We pulled into the parking lot and Eve parked the car. I looked the bus over and saw it had a symbol on it that resembled the anarchy symbol.

“Well, I’m ready to kick some butt, how about you guys?”

Natasha and I nodded in agreement. Eve flipped her hair to the side. She was considered a pretty girl with classic blonde hair and bluish-green eyes. Matt, one of the players, came over.

“Hey Eve,” He twirled her hair, “How’s it going?”

Eve blushed and looked down. Jerry approached, pushing Matt away from Eve.

“Back off man! She doesn’t like you!”

Eve opened the car door and popped the trunk. Natasha and I climbed out of the car in unison. We grabbed our bags but before Eve could, Jerry took hers. She blushed again and murmured her thanks.
