Normally I would love to miss school. Who wants to actually sit through boring lessons about things that will never be relevant in my life. But I'm missing school to move to my new house. Sounds like fun.

I quickly got up and walked towards my brother who was sleeping on a mattress close to me and woke him up by hitting a pillow on his face. His shocked face made me feel so much better! Before he could get up and run after me I went into the bathroom and locked the door. It was so much fun to annoy your little brother when he can't fight back. I had a quick shower and went back to my room to pack my clothes. Time to shift.

We settled in the car my dad driving,my mom in the passenger seat and me and Cole in the back. I was hoping that I was wrong and the house we shifted in was old and broken and near a graveyard. But of course not. We drove towards a street that looked fairly new but there were only two houses on the street. The house opposite to  us  seemed to be undergoing construction but their were no people around. Weird. My dad parked the car in front of the second house. It was a nice house. Okay it was beautiful. It was completely white . It had two floors and  it had a balcony on the second floor.  I bet the inside would be hideous and it's all about inner beauty right?

The interior was as beautiful as the exterior. Wooden flooring and pastel coloured walls. I entered the first room near the stairs and immediately claimed it as mine. It had one turquoise wall and the rest were white. There was a queen sized bed in the middle and an old cupboard against the wall. I quickly dumped sorry neatly a arranged my clothes in the cupboard which was a upgrade from  my normal dresser. Then I went down to help my parents set up the house. That took a long time.  It was late evening by the time everything was done by which I mean the kitchen, the living room and the study which were all downstairs. My mom stretched and said " We'll do the rest tomorrow. Just sleep on mattresses today." Then she entered the kitchen. I thought she had furnished my room as surprise. If she hadn't then who had? I'll just tell her tomorrow morning and rub it in Coles face at the same time.

Dinner was again take out as mom was too tired to cook. She kept on yawning at the dinner table and finally told us to go to bed. I ran up to my room smug that I could sleep on a bed while everyone else had mattresses.  The bed was so warm and comfortable. Resting my head on the pillow I immediately fell asleep.

'Thump!' A loud loud banging sound woke me up. Thinking it's  Cole annoying me I screamed ' Not now Cole. Someone trying to sleep here'. No reply. I opened my eyes and glanced around the room. The temperature seemed to have dropped a few degrees. Something didnt feel right. Putting it down to new house jitters I tried to go back to sleep. After all I could have just dreamed the sound, right? Sleep didn't come easy that night. I kept tossing and turning and the new chill in the room didn't seem to help things. I finally was able to fall asleep though I still hadn't been able to find a comfortable spot on my pillow.

I was in a strange room. However the furniture seemed familiar. The cupboard and the bed was mine asin placed in the room I currently called mine.  A lady in a long white dress with her hair in a bun was talking to a man dressed in a black  tuxedo his black  hair slicked back with what looked like gel . They seemed to be in the middle of a heated argument. They seemed to have not noticed my presence in the room. Suddenly the man pushed the lady against the bed and her head struck the head board  of the bed. She fainted and fell on the floor as the door opened  and a  shiny boot entered the room and the scene faded into darkness.

I woke up with a start. I was in my room and if the light coming from the window was any indication it was morning. I dragged myself out of bed and and got out when I suddenly slipped and my head almost hit the headboard  but I luckily broke the momentum with my hands. Still in shock I found myself stating at the board and found some stain on it. It was darker than the original colour of the board and stood out when looked at carefully and almost looked like.... Nah not possible. It's not like my dream actually happened. It was just another thing cooked up by my imagination. Shaking my head I went to my cupboard and took out my light blue skinny jeans and my 'best dressed' grey jumper. I quickly ran to the bathroom opposite my room and got ready for the day. When I went down for breakfast I found my parents missing from the table. When I asked Cole he said that they had left early to go and finalise the sale of our old house. I  nodded my head grabbed a toast and sat on the table. I still was unhappy about the shift but this house was actually not that bad as I imagined. Though it still hurts to think that the house where I grew up would now be home to some strangers.

As we were finishing breakfast we heard a knock on the door. I quickly went and opened it and found an old couple standing outside. 'We've come to meet the new neighbours' they said. I opened the door wider to let them in but the old lady shook her head. She handed me a jar of cookies and said' It's been a long time since I've entered this place. Id like to keep it that way.' Surprised I tried to reply but they had already waved bye and started to leave. By the time I could actually speak they had entered the gate of the house opposite us .  One question was running through my mind. How had the lady visited this house before when it was newly made just completed a week before. And hadn't the house  opposite us been under construction so how did they live there? And why did her face seem so familiar?
