i walked into school the next day and everyone was whispering.

"did you hear?"

"yeah, she broke up with him!"

"for that danny dude."

"i heard she cheated on caleb."

"i heard she hooked up with danny."

"slut."

"whore."

fuck off, i thought. you don't know any of what happened. 

rumors don't affect me. they're only that - rumors. i don't care if i'm the most popular or the least popular. and if you're stupid enough to believe a rumor - wow.

someone actually had the nerve to come up to me and say, "guess danny's better in bed than caleb, huh?" with a smirk. i told him "fuck off, asshole." may not be the best approach, but it gets them away. 

later on, danny came uo to me and said, "need a ride home?" i did, so i agreed. 

"sasha, i heard what they were saying about you...please don't believe it. it's not true. i'm really sorry."

"haters gonna hate. they don't know any of it. and they gotta be weak to believe a rumor. it doesn't bother me."

"are you sure? they were saying some pretty mean stuff..."

"yeah, i told them to fuck off."

later that night, i sat in my room, thinking. i know i said it doesn't get to me, but deep down it does. 

i've been in recovery for about a year now, but i go to my closet and get my old blade out. i hesitate, but sigh and drop it back in. 

don't go there, i think. you're stronger. don't let rumors get to you, don't break your year in recovery.
