Chapter 4

*Lauren's Flashback*

I've been called many things for as long as I could remember. At a young age, I used to let those words get to me and I would come home every day and cry myself to sleep. That was until I met Halsey. Halsey taught me to never take anyone's shit and to fight back. I was afraid at first because I didn't want to get in trouble, but then that whole mindset went out the window when I saw what a football player was doing to a cheerleader. That particular cheerleader changed my life forever.

"Why do people waste their time going to stupid ass football games?" Halsey asked.

"They're fun," Natasha said.

"I just like to stare at the cheerleaders honestly," Normani said.

"What about you Lauren?" Halsey asked.

"I just don't want to go home," I said not really paying attention to the conversation.

"Who the fuck really does," Halsey said.

"You can stay over at my house Lauren if you want," Natasha said.

"I bet you would like that Natasha," Normani said and Natasha's face turned red.

I was about to respond when I saw something move from the distance. I stood up from sitting on the ground and started to walk in that general direction.

"Where the hell you going Jauregui?" Halsey yelled after me but I ignored her and kept walking. As I started to get closer, I started to be able to make out voices.

"You know you want to," a male voice said.

"Get off me Nick," the girl yelled and then I heard the guy yelp.

"Fucking bitch," Nick shouted and then I heard someone being thrown to the ground.

I don't know why I did it, but I grabbed Nick from behind and pulled him off of the girl and started to beat the shit out of him. The girl didn't try to stop me at all, but stood behind me until I beat the kid Nick up so bad that he became unconscious. I looked at my hands and saw that they were covered in blood. I was about to panic, but I felt soft hands on my face that turned me in their direction.

"Thank you," the girl with blue eyes and blonde hair said.

"I-I didn't mean to do this," I said.

"You saved me...uh what's your name?" the girl with blue eyes asked me.

"Lauren," I said.

"I'm Jennifer," Jennifer said.

"He was trying to hurt you," I said.

"And you stopped him," Jennifer said.

"I should go," I said.

"Wait, let me help you clean the blood off of you" Jennifer said removing her hands from my face.

"Okay," I said and I followed Jennifer to a school bathroom where she helped me clean up. I was about to leave when she stopped me.

"It's only right that I repay you, so how about dinner sometime?" Jennifer asked.

"I don't go to this school, my friends and I only came here to make fun of public school kids" I said.

"Give me your phone Lauren," Jennifer said and I dug in my pocket and retrieved my phone and handed it to her. She put her number in my phone and then called her phone from my phone. She handed me back my phone.

"Uh..." I said unable to find words.

"I'll text you the address to the place where I want to eat and meet you there," Jennifer said and then winked at me before leaving me in the school bathroom by myself.
