End of an Era

Three days later.

Joe's POV

MY eyes flutter open to find Zoë, Caspar and Will all asleep in their seats; I scan the room trying to find Lucy but there's no one else in the room. I sigh disappointed at the fact that I have screwed up so badly that even in times of need my wife doesn't want anything todo with me.

"Its about time I saw those gorgeous eyes of yours." Lucy says as she walks into my hospital room with four coffees and a blueberry muffin, I smile at my wife ecstatic that she's here for me as well.  The others all wake up and greet me with hugs and lovely kind words of encouragement, Zoë is the last to awaken and rushes over giving me a hug as soon as she realises that I'm awake,  before punching me hard in the arm.

"You nearly gave me a fucking heart attack, never do that to me again!" Zoë yells at me and I rub my shoulder as it stings from her assault.

"Ow!! Oh I'm sorry, like I intended to be put in a coma?! Can I have five minutes with Lucy please?" I ask and everyone nods their heads before excusing my wife and I to have a private conversation. Lucy sits in the seat on the seat beside my bed and I sit upright, facing her before breaking the deafening silence in the room.

"So it takes me nearly dying for us to be able to sit in a room together huh? I guess that's my own fault."

"Its mine too, I can't put all the blame of the downfall of our marriage on you. That's not fair, it also takes two to ruin something. I'm sorry."

"Hey, you have absolutely nothing to apologise for. I'm the one who should be sorry, I cheated on the best thing that has ever walked into my life. Again, after you forgave me with the whole Eleni mess; I should've been better, a better husband and a better father. Where are the kids?"

"They're with their Aunt Arden, Mŷa was exhausted after Florida with Will. You should've seen her Joe, she was so happy. Will looked like he wanted to throw himself off the nearest bridge though; I think he'd had it up to here with the Frozen songs." Lucy laughs and I smile at the memories of Mŷa driving me absolutely insane blasting the Frozen soundtrack while I'm trying to remember lines or edit a video in peace.

"That's my little girl for you, she'll drive you crazy with Do You Wanna Build a Snowman" I reply and Lucy nods her head before cupping my face in her hand, I grab a hold of it and a tear slips from her eyes and I immediately wipe it away.

"Hey, I'm fine. Oh baby, come here" I say opening my arms and making space for my wife to lay with me, Lucy gets in bed with me and wraps her arms around my torso and rests her head on my chest before placing my hand onto her stomach. My eyes widen as I realise that her belly is larger than normal and then it hits me that she is pregnant.

"You're..." I start unable to even finish my sentence as I am shocked.

"Yeah, were having another baby. That is okay right?" Lucy looks up at me and I look into her eyes and turn slightly to face her a little more.

"Are you kidding me? You've just made me the happiest sick person the world." I reply before placing a kiss on her forehead and placing a lock of her long brunette hair behind her ear.

"I told Luke, he took it a whole lot better than when he found out I was pregnant with Mŷa because of Louise." Lucy reminds me of when she was pregnant with Mŷa and Louise let the cat out of the bag.

"I love you so much Lucy. Forgive me, please? I know I don't deserve it but I can't be without you."

"You don't have to, but we can't be together anymore Joe. Look at what we're doing to each other, to the kids.... it's not healthy. I will always love you damn, you're my only love but we can't keep doing this, it's not fair on either of us or our kids; I'm still gonna go through the divorce, but can we promise that we'll always be best friends? I wanna go back to the way it was when we were just best friends."
