John had a knife, sticking out of his lung. There's not much time.
"John" whispers Sherlock, stroking the ashy blonde hair. As if that would make it alright. As if John wouldn't die.
Sherlock extracts his grip. He doesn't want to watch this. Doesn't want to watch the last breath leave from his best friend. But he doesn't want John to die alone. Nobody deserves that.
John's breath is now rattling. Why won't he die? 'Just die. It'll save the pain' Sherlock thinks. He's extremly careful as he hugs the dying man.
John has a minute or two left, and Sherlock wants to see his face until the end. The ambulance is still 3 miles away. By the time it gets here, it will be to late. Even with Sherlock knowing CPR, it won't help with John's lung collapsing.
Sherlock presses a kiss to John's temple as his muscles go slack. His eyes are open, but no light in them.
Sherlock tries to start CPR, but with a knife in John's lung, it's almost worthless.
Sherlock cradles the body in his lap, as the ambulance arrives. Just a little to late.
