Chapter 1:
I threw my cap in the air. Finally!! I was completely finished with school. I have my two year degree as a X-ray Technician. I can go anywhere & have that certainty that someone will need someone with my degree. London sounds nice? Doesn't it?
I've always wanted a farm though. A dozen horses, cows, & maybe even pigs. A big two story brick house. A small rose garden. It was beautiful, well I imagined it to be beautiful.
A few friends of mine & our families went out to celebrate afterwards. We ate at a nice Italian place just outside of town.
"We should go on a trip. To celebrate." Kennedy suggested.
"Oooo!! Yeah!!!!!" Ruthie seconded.
"Where on earth would we go?" I said laughing.
"We could go to Dublin." Kennedy said.
"It could just be a fun little get-away." I added.
"Why not? What's stopping us? I have graduation money from family. Don't you guys?" Kennedy negotiated.
"I know I do." Ruthie agreed.
"Yeah, I think I have enough. It would be fun. What's today Wednesday? We can leave Friday & be back Monday night?" I suggested.
"Fine with me." Kennedy said
"Me too." Added Ruthie.
"Kennedy can call the hotel & schedule reservations. I'll go to the store & get some food. We can take Ruthie's car since it is the biggest." I said.
"Sounds great!" Ruthie responded.
"Cool with me!" Kennedy agreed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Ruthie COME ON!!" Kennedy yelled up the stairs to Ruthie.
"One minute!! Just let me find my blanket!" She pushed on.
"It's an hour trip!!! Why do you need a blanket?!?!"
"In case I get cold in the car!!"
Kennedy rolled her eyes.
"You two can't argue the whole way there." I told her.
"We won't as long as she doesn't act like this the whole time." Kennedy said.
"You guys ready?" Ruthie asked coming down the stairs.
"We've been ready!!!!!!" Kennedy replied.
We walked out the door. The ride wasn't bad. It was just a hair over an hour long. I slept, Ruthie drove, & Kennedy listened to music & dozed in & out the whole way there.
We got there at about 11:30am & we decided to go eat lunch. We ate at The Celt, nothing too fancy. It was good. We weren't supposed to check into our hotel until 3:00. So, we decided to do some shopping at Brown Thomas.
"So how's Finn?" I asked Ruthie.
"He's doing good. He's just got this semester left of college then he's coming to stay here for a few months. He already has an apartment picked out & everything."
"That's great!!"
Finn has been Ruthie's boyfriend for the past year. There's a small problem though, he lives in England. Him & his twin brother Jack travel a lot though so they always make sure to swing by Mullingar.
"Soooo, how about Jack, Kennedy??" I asked.
"He's planning to do the same. They'll be finishing up around January." Kennedy & Jack had been dating for about ten months. They were adorable & inseparable, just like Finn & Ruthie.
"Awwww, you four are so cute." I said smiling.
"So what's up with your love life?" Ruthie asked.
"Psh. Nothing." I said laughing.
"There's got to be something!" Kennedy pushed on.
"What about Niall?" Ruthie asked.
"He's just a friend. I hardly talk to him though. I-I just really miss him. I texted him happy birthday when it was his birthday a few weeks ago & he said thanks. We chatted for awhile. He seemed to be doing good. We talk at least once a month. Just small talk though. 'How's Greg?' 'Good, how's your mom?' Just plain stuff like that. Nothing like we used to. We used to be together everyday for the majority of the day. He told me everything & now he barley tells me anything. What I know I get from magazines & most of that probably isn't even true. I just don't know how you can be friends with someone your whole life & then forget about them in a few years......." I trailed off.
"Wow. That's deep." Kennedy said.
"Sorry to ramble. That had just been on my mind a lot lately..." I apologized.
"No. You're fine. I'm really sorry. I had no idea. I shouldn't have asked..." Ruthie said.
"No, it's fine. I really don't mind talking about him. It helps to get it off my chest most of the time." I explained. We wandered over by the dresses.
"Really guys?!? The dress section! What am I supposed to do in the dress section?!?" Kennedy complained. She hated dresses. Ruthie & I were the girly ones.
"Ummm.... Let's see, pick out a dress?!?" I said laughing.
"Gag." She said rolling her eyes.
"Just get a subtle one. We can all wear them out to dinner tomorrow! It won't kill you." Ruthie pressured.
"This one's kind of cute." Kennedy said pulling a light purple one off of the rack. It was floor length. She picked out a cardigan to go over it since it was chilly. It sounds fancy but it really wasn't. It was beautiful, but yet casual.
"Ooooo! I love that one!! Do they have your size?" I asked.
"Yeah, I'll go try it on. But don't get your hopes up." She said going to find the dressing room. We followed her.
"I can't believe she's even trying it on!" I said to Ruthie once Kennedy was out of earshot.
"Me neither! We're growing on her!" She agreed.
"I know!"
Kennedy came out.
"Oh my gosh!!!!! That's so pretty!!!!!" Ruthie squealed.
"You HAVE to get that one!!" I agreed.
"Ughhh. Okay. Do you two have anything?" Kennedy asked, knowing she couldn't win this one.
"I have a skirt & Ruthie has a baby blue dress." I explained.
We tried them on & we both loved them. I found a long sleeve white shirt to go with the floor length peach skirt I got. Ruthie got a dress sort of like Kennedy's but instead of being solid Ruthie's had a floral pattern.
We checked out & decided to hunt down the hotel since it was 2:30.We were staying at The Pearse Hotel. We finally got there & got settled in.
