Autumn's POV

I logged into Tumblr with my headphones blasting music into my ears as I sang along, belting out the lyrics. I was reblogging a post when my headphones were yanked out of my head, "What the hel-ck!" I changed my hell into heck as I saw my dad, Jason, towering over me.

"Your mother has been calling you for the past ten minutes that dinner is served. What did we tell you would happen if this happened again?" My dad said as he glared down at me, a stony expression on his face.

"That you were going to take my phone and laptop away for the rest of the day..." I said as I looked down.

"Get downstairs and eat your dinner." My father snapped at me as he left my room, with me storming into the kitchen right behind him.

"Your food is on the table. It's cold now." My mother said, annoyance clear in her voice.

"Autumn, on Saturday night we're having guests over, and we need you to behave yourself, it's a very important dinner." My father said, in a much kinder tone than he had in my bedroom.

"Who are the guests?" I asked as I shoved pasta into my mouth.

My parents gave each other uneasy looks, I felt my heart drop. That was the look they always gave me when his family was coming over, "George, Allison, and Niall Horan" my mom replied, suddenly she also had a much sweeter voice than before. They knew me and Niall didn't like one another, but they thought we just fought sometimes, they didn't know we were basically enemies.

"Oh," I said, looking down, "I'll try to behave myself."

"That's all we ask." My father said as he and my mom walked upstairs to their bedroom.

I sat at the table, thinking. Niall Horan. That boy really knew how to push my buttons. Everyone else loved that boy, he had the highest GPA at the school, he was the captain of the varsity soccer (football) team, class president, and he was rich beyond belief. However, those reasons had nothing to do with why I hated him, those were just the reasons everyone else loved him. I hated him for that one moment, and no other moment besides the fact that he got me suspended for something I never did, he ruined my perfect school record. Then, he beat me in the running for class president so I started a rumor that he sold drugs, but I have to admit, that was uncalled for and I regretted it.

Saturday Night

"Autumn, get dressed! They're going to be here soon!" My mom yelled from downstairs, while she prepared the food.

I had just finished blow drying my hair from my shower, I left it in its natural pretty waves. I put on some white capris with holes, a blue tank top with rhinestones and flowers on it, and my white converse. I had finished applying my makeup just as I heard the doorbell ring downstairs. I slowly descended the staircase. I was in no rush to attend that dinner.

Once I was downstairs, I walked into the living room where everyone was. "Autumn! It's so good to see you" Mrs. Horan said as she engulfed me in a hug.

"You too, Mrs. Horan!" I said trying to sound excited for the dinner that was about to being. I pulled myself out of the hug and walked up to Niall's dad, "Hi, Mr. Horan." I said as I shook his hand.

"Hello, Autumn!" Mr. Horan replied as he loosened his grip on my hand. He walked past me and walked into the kitchen with my parents and Mrs. Horan.

Niall was still standing at the door looking extremely awkward and uncomfortable with the entire situation. "Hi, Niall." I said, breaking the silence. I tried to sound kind, after all, I did promise my parents I would behave myself and I didn't want to embarrass them in front of their best friends.
