'Oh no.. I have to go back.. (Y/N) isn't the meanie.. I was.." The small American gasped quietly and his eyes teared up. He immediately began to run back to the hospital room until he was blocked off by Arthur. "Hey Alfred, let's go home now.." Arthur smiled sweetly while stroking the other's hair. Alfred shook his head. "No! I have to see (Y/N)!" He cried and hit then Brit's leg. Arthur sighed. "It's getting late.. Tomorrow, I promise.. Alright?"Alfred pouted then nodded slowly. "Y-Yeah.. But for sure! Pinky promise?" He extended his pinky. Arthur smiled and then the two intertwined pinkies.
~Timeskip to the Next Day~
After jumping on Arthur's bed and shouting, the two were on their way to go visit (Y/N). Alfred was putting on his favorite clothes and he gathered a bouquet of flowers from the garden that he was going to give to you as an apology.
Arthur patted his head and opened the door.
"Ready?" "Ready!"
~~~~~~~
"What? That.. That can't be.." Arthur sighed. "I don't.." "Listen, sir, we're sorry.. We understand how you must feel.." The doctor said. Alfred was sitting in the waiting room chair, swinging his legs happily. "I can't wait to see
(y/n)! We can play and have fun!" He giggled to himself.Arthur began to walk back, looking down and tears in his eyes. "Hey, Al.. Listen.." The American looked up and then frowned. "A-Artie? What's wrong?" Arthur frowned deeply. How was he supposed to break the news..?
"It's about (y/n)..."
Alfred then smiled. "Really? Where is she?" Arthur shook his head. "She.. She's gone, she died yesterday.." Alfred looked confused. "Died? What's that?" "She's not here anymore.." Alfred gasped and started to cry. "She left? Where'd she go? That's not fair! Did I make her leave?" He cried even harder and began to hug Arthur. Arthur wiped Alfred's tears. "You'll understand later.."They stayed like that until the doctor called Arthur again and then they began to talk about having a funeral and all that.
The day of the funeral was very sad of course. Arthur and Alfred were the only ones that came but their love was enough. Arthur spoke, for Alfred and himself. Alfred still didn't understand but was sad anyways. He still had the bouquet and he threw it in the grave before they filled it with dirt. If only he knew what was in there.
Many years passed and Alfred now understood the concept of death. He finally remembered what had happened to his old friend. It saddened him, even more now that he understood but that never stopped him from loving or missing you.
Every year he would visit your grave and deliver flowers and a jar full of notes. The notes contained letters that he would've written to you if you were alive. It went on and on like that every year, he never forgot about you and he hoped he would get to see you again, this time not do you wrong and be able to hold you close, and love you.
