It had been three months since my sister and I ran from home. I can't say I miss Washington at all. My sister surely doesn't.

I looked from the arcade game to a TV on the wall. The news was on, and the top story? Us. I heard the story and looked at Stelle just as pictures of us flashed on the screen. She stood up from her spot at a round table and walked over to me. We both stared at the TV in disbelief.

"We need to leave, now." Stelle said grabbing my hand. I looked behind my shoulder as we exited the building. There was a policeman, watching us.

"Stelle, there's a cop." I whispered. She turned quickly. We walked faster, but slow enough to not raise suspicion. That didn't work. I looked around to see the cop leaving the building behind us.

"Hey can I talk to you girls?" He said. We looked at him, then to each other. And with that we were off, sprinting through the cold, light mist. The policeman chased after us, determined to catch us.

"Hey! Come back here!" He yelled behind us. We took a sharp turn into an alley that lead to the main streets. We reached the end and tried our best to disappear into the large crowds. We put our hoods up and slowed to a walk. We were safe.

We walked for another hour to the docks. They were deserted and quiet. An eerie fog floated just above the ground. No one ever came to the docks anymore. It used to be colourful and full of laughter; now it was just a wasteland used as a hangout for all the alternative kids.

"You okay?" Stelle asked as we walked along.

"Hmm, oh, yeah. I'm fine." I said smiling. She raised her eyebrow at me.

"You sure?" I nodded my head 'yes' and noticed a light on in one of the abandoned boats. I squinted as to get a better look and saw a dark figure just before the light went out. I looked at Stelle. We slowly crept towards the boat.

"Hello?" I yelled as we stepped inside. There was silence, then someone kicked something.

"Ow, shit!" We heard a girl say. She sounded about our age, but knowing the kinds of people you could find at the docks, we weren't ever for sure if it was a girl.

"Are you okay?" I said trying to find her in the darkness. Stelle grabbed my arm and pulled me back.

"Are you crazy?!" She said quietly. "That could be a murderer for all you know!"

"I'm not a murderer." The girl said suddenly, making us jump. She stepped into the small window of light created by the open door. Her eyes were an icy blue, her hair was a bright white colour. "I'm Corey Jae." She held out her hand and I took it. Stelle, though very against befriending Corey, shook her hand as well.

"Well we have to go home now." Stelle said grabbing my hand. I pulled away from her and continued to talk to Corey.

            "So, where do you live?"

"Here, there, anywhere." Corey shrugged. A small smirk appeared on her face. "Hey, you guys wanna see something?" She asked. Stelle looked at me concerned.

"What is this something?" Stelle said squeezing my hand tighter.

"Don't worry. This place is perfect for you." She stepped past us and out the boat door. I looked at Stelle. She shook her head no, but gave in and we followed Corey back down the dock.
