Kayla’s P.O.V

I’ve never been special. My name is Kayla. Average name. My average 5’3 height athletic body, chocolate waves that flow to the middle of my back. Wide, blue eyes hidden behind long, dark lashes. Full lips and perfect complexion. I grew up in Eldorado Springs, Missouri. 3,000 people. Nothing was in that stupid town, just a trashy school and trashy homes, including mine. I lived on the outskirts of town and had the closest thing to creepers surrounding me. One of them cooked meth and another one traded drugs for sex. I only ever trusted one person and in the end that just bit me in the butt. My best friend Chase was my rock, the closest thing to family that I have ever had. My mom didn’t give a crap about me and my scars and bruises proved it. My dad died when I was 10, he was like the father that every kid dreams of having, always came home to eat dinner with me, sat through all of my tea parties and temper tantrums. The thing that got me when he died though is that, he was in a car accident in front of a hospital. So what gets me is that nobody was able to save him. They just left him there, to die.

That’s where Chase comes in. he was always there for me after his death, but the older he got the more attractive he got and the more people he attracted, braces and glasses to a strong jaw and perfect smile. Lanky body to pure muscle. The night after our senior graduation he went to a party with his girlfriend, Jasmine. She spiked his drink so she could finally take his virginity from him. But that never did happen for her. She pissed him off when he was drunk and she was kissing his best friend, so he got in his car and left. Blew straight through a red light and hit a semi head-on, “There is no point of saving him,” the doctors said, “Nobody survives a semi.” I cried for days after the funeral, soon days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months. Finally on the fifth month my friend, Crystal forced me to get out of the house, I have to admit, it felt good to get out but I still wished Chase was here, but I knew that this is what he wanted.

So here I stand today, three years later in Starbucks getting ready for work. I am currently a Junior attending the University of Flordia. Majoring in English. “HELLO!!” I snap back to the present to see a man with a balding head scolding me for daydreaming, “oh! I am so sorry sir, what was that?” I answer back to him. He narrows his eyes but answers back quickly, “I said medium black coffee.” He says. “okay, your total is $3.22, have a good day!” I tell him with a cheery smile as I hand him his coffee, he just glares at me and starts talking on his phone. I roll my eyes when he isn’t looking and turn around to check on everything and when I turn back around I find myself staring into the most captivating green eyes I have ever seen. “Hi,” he says with a dimpled smile. I just stand there and stare at him with my jaw dropped, he is so handsome! No, not handsome, Sexy. Yeah, Sexy. He is about a foot taller than me, his mop of chocolate curly hair is messy, but not too messy, his muscled body that I was dying to run my hands all over, his big hands that looked like monsters compared to my small ones, the tattoos peeking out of the collar and sleeves of his black T-shirt.

When I looked back into his eyes, he had an eyebrow raised and I realized that he was saying something to me. “I’m sorry. What did you say?” I ask to him. He smiles and releases a small husky chuckle and grins back at me. “I said, Hi.” He says. “oh! Hi.” I answer quietly, I can feel my cheeks heat up with embarrassment and I get really interested in my shoes, when I am sure my blush is gone, I look back up at him and smile. “Hi.” I say, more confident this time. He laughs and answers, “Hi, I’m Harry Styles.” He says offering me his hand. I quickly shake it and try not to jump from the electricity. “Kayla. Kayla Smith.” I reply with a smile. “Well Kayla, it is very nice to meet you. Can I have a caramel frappe please?” he is still smiling at me and I am sure I am blushing like an idiot. “Of course you can! Coming right up!” I say in an enthusiastic voice. When I hand him his coffee, he grabs my hand and pulls me as close as he can with the counter in the way. “Do you think that maybe I could….possibly..get your number? He doesn’t meet my eyes and I can tell that he is nervous about asking me. “Uhm…Yeah, Sure” I put my fingers under his chin and lift his face to look at me, our faces are inches apart and I find myself breathing harder and faster. My hormones got the best of me and I leaned in and kissed him on the cheek. I don’t know why I did it. But when I pulled away and saw his face I know I made the right decision to do it. I grabbed his cup of coffee and wrote: Kayla <3: 448-671-5547="">. When I handed it back to him I realized that he was smiling from ear to ear and had a deep red blush on his cheeks. “Here you go.” I handed it back to him. He opened his mouth to say something, but quickly shut it and instead just replied with a “Bye.” I had a permanent smile on my face through the whole day just thinking about Harry. When I got to my apartment I took a shower and got ready for bed. When I finally fell asleep my dreams were scattered with a curly haired boy smiling at me.
