Pretty red vibrant rose
Not ready to wilt
In a vase with water
I watch it for the next week
Stem slowly turning black
Leaves falling off
Rose petals drying to a blackish purple
Stem is Green at the bottom
In the water clinging to life
Another week later petals crumbling
In my hand as I squeeze it I open my hand letting the remains
fall to the ground to be swept awayAuthors note: hey this is my book for poems I write in the years past I have another book for 2016 poems
