Hello my lovelies! Me and my friend Kay are co-writing a book so if the style of writing changes that's because Kay took over. I hope you enjoy this storyyy~
"The Big Bad Wolf strikes again!" A newsboy shouted from the street holding up a pile of papers. The streets were filled with crowded civilians, mothers going for their daily shopping, men going to their work spaces. Children ran around in the streets avoiding the school buildings, against all of their mother's protests. "The full-moon mass murder killed about..." The swarms of people talking quickly drowned out the paperboy. It was only a normal weekend in the small town of Coldpeak that was just on the outskirts of the Labyrinth of Nightmares, the ruins of ancient civilization. However, it very big day for a specific girl."Red, you have to be careful out there you know. The Wolf took out three more people last week, and he may still be out there" Her mother spoke in a coutious voice, fixing the candy red hood attached to the velvety cape that had been passed down in their family for many generations.
"Yes mother, I know," The girl rolled her eyes and tucked a strawberry lock behind each ear. She tightened her cloak around her neck and smiled, grabbing a small basket that could pass as a sack, that had been resting besides her feet.
"Now, your aunt just left Grandmother's house, so you may stumble across her on your journey. Don't stop or talk to any strangers you may meet, and don't take rides from anyone!"
"You speak as if I'm traveling through the city. I'm just going through the woods," She rolled her eyes while her mother looked away.
"Yes but... Oh, I just don't want to let my baby out into the dangerous world!" The lady wailed and pulled Red in for a hug.
"Mother, I hope I don't have to remind you that I'm 16. I think I can handle a small trip," Red protested, pushing her very over-protective mother away. It was a family tradition that once a female turned 16, she got to take a trip by herself through the woods. It had been started by her Great Great Grandmother, Red Camira. Little Red at the time, but now she was known as Big Red. The cloak she was wearing was the same thing her Great Great Grandmother had worn that day.
"Red, please be safe. I don't know what I would do if I lost you, too..."
Red's smile disappeared. "I'll be fine. I promise I will come back by nightfall tomorrow." The teen pulled her mother into a goodbye kiss, and then waved at her from the sidewalk. She brushed her dress off, and started to walk towards the woods. With a small skip in her step, she made her way through the gates of the city and into the darkness of the woods.

After walking for a mile or so, she was far from the City. Panting, Red stopped behind a tree and got clothes out of her backpack. She pulled out ripped black jeans and a white boys shirt she found in the street one day. She picked it up because it wasn't in too bad of a condition, and it fit her properly. Red lifted her dress over her head, throwing it to the ground newly covered in the fall leaves. She had never gotten why people only admired something pretty when it was dying. Red loved nature, and was almost always outside; whether it be playing with the boys next door in the mud, or catching caterpillars. She pulled on the clothes from the bag, and left the dress on the ground, tying the velvety garment around her waist. Red had never been a girl to wear dresses, as a matter of fact, she was never a girly girl. She had snuck a knife in the front zipper of her sack. As she attached the knife to her belt to serve as a weapon for now, she chewed on a piece of bread. Taking a second glance at the dress lying on the ground, she balled it up and quickly threw it in her bag.
She finished the bread throwing some crumbs onto the ground for the birds. She heard a faint rustling of leaves. She drew her knife and looked around, "Who's there?" She called out. Red's knife glinted in the small amount of sunlight that had filtered through the trees above her. "I'm not afraid to use this."
"Relax, red-head," She heard from behind her. Red slowly glanced behind her back, seeing no one.
