The fibers of the world, the very stitching that was holding it all together in one piece was slowly coming unraveled, this she knew. It had started when the world began to seem as though it was falling apart. Earthquakes started shaking huge sections of the world at once. Scientisits were flabbergasted by the weather changes, tornadoes rampaged everywhere constantly. The first thing you would see when you watched the news were the ever going tornado warnings, then came the news about the bank robberies, killings, fires, sudden drop in populations of animals, strange collapsing of buildings as the Earth plates shifted, and the surprising news of how the continents were moving in the ocean quicker then people would of even thought possible.
The next obvious hint were the constant signs placed all over the place declaring the end of the world. It was hard to ignore it all, even if she wanted to. She had tried to push the thought of the world even possibly coming to an end aside and maybe even suggested to herself that it was all a coincidence and nothing that was happening was out of the normal or was strange.
Months began to pass and as the crimes and odd weather conditions began to worsen as time passed, she couldn't help but find herself clutching the small bundle of hope tighter in her arms. No matter what happened, she vowed to never let any harm come to her precious child. The father had abandoned them and left her alone to raise the little girl and she couldn't bear to think of any harm coming upon her.
However, as years passed and nothing seemed to happen, people began forgetting about the entire end of the world outrage and put that aside to study the new growing world around them. It wasn't soon after they had let their guard down that the skies slowly began to darken. They didn't notice it at first, but eventually it became all but unnoticeable. The tides in the ocean became a dark foreboding blue under the darkened sky, the world around them seeming to plummet into never ending darkness. It wasn't long before no light was shed on the world except for that found by fire and electricity. These two things became the world's only source of light as they tried to survive in conditions never seen before.
It began one dark, as they always were now, and cold night... or maybe it was day time. She could never tell anymore, when a horrible sound erupted through the air. It was a loud ripping sound as though the entire world was made of cloth and someone decided to grab ahold of both sides and pull with all their might, ripping it into shreds.
It was so loud that not long after it was heard, she found herself and hundreds of other people who had come out of their homes, outside in the streets, staring up at the pitch black sky. They sat there, hushed in shock and curiosity as a second ripping sound boomed through the air. The sound was ten times as loud as fireworks on the fourth of July. It was ear splitting and people covered their ears with their hands in an attempt to block the overly loud sound out.
In what had seemed to be moments after the second horrible ripping sound had shaken the Earth, a slit of a light appeared in the sky. All people looked up to the sky in that moment as that small slit began to open, bigger and bigger until it was a big hole in the sky, but it did not shed any light into the dark world.
The humans of the world looked on with awe as something or rather a couple of somethings began to appear in the hole. At first they were small dots and then they grew in size as they got closer and closer to the people standing on the ground. Their heads suddenly snapped down to the ground as the Earth beneath them began to shake.
"Earth quake!" Someone in the crowd yelled.
The yell was soon followed by screams as people tried to take cover around or under something sturdy. The woman who had been standing in the middle of the street, holding her baby girl tightly against her stood her ground, fear gripping her as she stood paralyzed, people darting around her in blurred dark motions.
