Lexi's POV
When I got off work, I went to my car to go home. I have a red mini cooper. I got it for my sixteenth birthday my junior year. I have loved that car ever since.
When I got home, I decided to eat some leftover pizza from yesterday. I took out the piece of paper that West gave me with his number on it and just stared at it. I decided then to call him.
After 3 rings I was gonna hang up, but then he answered.
"Yellow," he said.
"I'm sorry, did you just say yellow?"
"Yes I did. Hey, you're the hottie from the boardwalk. I've been waiting a few hours for you to call. You're name is Lexi, right?"
"Uh, yeah and you're West?"
"The one and only, baby!"
Oh, God. Okay. I need to get answers from this guy and I need to get them now.
"Hey, West? Who was that girl that you came in with? She seemed really nice."
"Oh, yeah. That was my sister, Kara. Yeah, she's pretty cool. I love her."
So that was his sister. Well, don't I feel stupid.
"Why, were you jealous?"
"What! No, of course not. I didn't even know you! Look, I just thought that if she was your girlfriend, then it would be super shallow for you to flirt with me."
He started a laughing fit for like, a minute and then spoke.
"You thought that Kara and I were a couple?" And then he began his laughing fit...again.
I put the phone on speaker and set my phone on the island in the kitchen. I walked around to the refrigerator and looked for something to drink. I could still hear West in the background.
"Hey, West," I said, "if you're not gonna talk to me, I think I'll just go."
"No, no, no, no! I'm sorry. I just thought that it was really funny. Please don't go."
He sounded so desperate that it was adorable.
"Okay, well, my friend is coming over in about an hour. Do you wanna come? You can bring Kara if you want."
"Uh, yeah. I'll see if I can get Kara to come."
"Awesome."
I saved his number in my phone and then texted him my address. He should be over in an hour or so. In the meanwhile, I did my makeup and put out a tray of snacks. Hailey was the first one over. I heard her yell from the foyer of my house.
"Can I come in? I'm already in, so say yes."
"Hey, Hails. Before the other company comes, tell me your boy emergency."
She runs and drags me to the couch.
"Okay. So, you know how my boyfriend and I are on really good terms right now?" I nodded. "So, I have a feeling that he's cheating on me. I mean, it's not really a feeling because I know that he's cheating on me. And I don't want to confront him about it. I just want him to stop-"
I interrupted her rant. She gets a little defensive whenever it comes to disciplining their relationship.
"Look, Hailey. I don't want to have to say this, but I think it's time to break up with him. If you know that he's cheating, then why stay with him? And I don't mean to breakup with him and then get back together in a week or so. You guys need to break up for good."
When I looked back at Hailey, she looked like she was going to cry, so I hugged her.
"I always thought that we would always be together. I saw him with this other girl on the boardwalk kissing and holding hands when I was coming to work. That's why I rushed in and-"
She broke down. She started crying so much that I'm suprised that we had enough tissues. I knew that in a few minutes, West and Kara would be here and I can't have Hails over here crying like a lunatic (no offense).
"Okay, Hailey. I have a boy coming over and-"
"Holy chiz! Is that your boy emergency. Doesn't seem like an emergency to me if he's coming over! Wow, Lexi!"
And then she was back to her normal self. I did her makeup since her original makeup wore off. We only had 5 minutes to do it before West rang the doorbell.
********************When Kara and West came over, we decided to play Monopoly. So far, West was winning.
Before playing Monopoly, we sat down and told more about ourselves. I found out that West is a rising sophmore at UCLA in Los Angeles and Kara is a rising freshman there. Kara and I are the same age and surprisingly, she is a week younger than me. I am a rising freshman and will be attending Pepperdine University in Malibu in the fall.
Now, back to Monopoly. West eventually won.
"No, no, no! That's not fair! You cheated?" Kara said to West.
"No I didn't! How exactly did I cheat Kara?"
"On every turn, you went one space more than you were supposed to!"
"Psh, you can't prove that!"
"You're right. I can't prove that, but I know you did it."
"So what if I did? I still won. You know what they say, 'All is fair in love and Monopoly.'"
"Yeah, no one says that," Kara said really confused.
This arguing went on for about 3 minutes until I broke up the fight.
"Hey!"
Everyone looked at me.
"Who wants to watch a movie?"
********************We were watching Freddy Vs Jason. Everyone was asleep except for West and I. I was on one side of the couch and West was on the other side. I had a feeling that he was just looking at me. I turned my head towards him and he didn't even try to hide the fact that he was looking at me.
"Why are you staring at me?"
"Because you're beautiful."
I know he did not just use a FIOS line on me. But it was so cute. I just giggled and went back to the movie, but I couldn't focus because I could feel his eyes on me.
"Will you stop that?"
He laughed," Sorry." Then he looked towards the screen again and so did I.
Then in my peripheral vision, I could see his head turning towards me. Then he was just staring again.
I looked back at him and we had a stare off for about 2 minutes until he won.
"Dang it!"
"You can't beat me, sweetheart."
I looked back at the screen. The movie credits were rolling. I decided to go back to the main menu and go down to deleted scenes. As I watched the first one, I could feel the couch get lower as something or someone scooted closer to me. I looked over and saw West a little closer than before.
"Lexi?"
"Yes?"
"Would you like to go somewhere this Friday night?"
I pretended to think about it for a while.
"I don't know, West. When you were staring at me, it was really creeping me out," I joked.
He looked guilty.
"I'm kidding. I would love too!"
