"So I'm assuming you guys know about the murders that occurred last night." I sighed to my friends.
"Of course we did. You nearly scared me to death when you just started screaming on the phone. I ran to find Chris and Grace as fast as I could," Ryan apologized although he had no reason to. "And the worst part is, they haven't even found the man who did it." A frown was etched upon his face.
My jaw dropped. "You're kidding me, right?"
"I'm sorry, Layz."
I started to freak out. What if he comes after me still? Does he have any idea who I am or where I live?
"Calm down, calm down. He won't hurt you again. You live in the smallest populated town in the state Layz, there's barely to no chance at all that he would find you. Plus, why would he want to? I'm sure he's just some psycho going after the first person he lays his eyes on." Grace reassures me as we pull into town. Ryan forced me to let him drive because I wasn't in a "stable condition" which I obviously am, they're just too overprotective of me. So we took Grace home first, then Chris, and then Ryan drove to his house, parking the car before walking over to my rolled down window on the passenger side.
"Be careful okay? Text or call me as soon as you get home so I know you made it safely," he pleads with worried, pale grey eyes. Nodding, I softly smile in response. He leans in through the open window and places a firm kiss to my forehead. "Love ya, Layz."
"Love you too, Ry." I have no idea what I would do without Ryan, I know we're a group of four best friends, but he is my rock.
The first thing that I do when I get home is shower. Stripping off my clothes, I turn the warm water on the faucet and let it run for a few seconds before jumping in. The little droplets soon cover my body, providing relief after a long night. I can't believe I was attacked. Why me? I guess there was no one else outside. It was idiotic of me to go out there alone anyway. If it wasn't for Grayson I would probably be dead. I sort of wished I asked him for his number or something, it felt odd not knowing the person who quite likely could've rescued me from a young death. On top of that, he was pretty attractive.
I still have no idea why he was covered in dirt at that party. Why didn't I ask him what his job was? It was all a pretty confusing incident, and it's not like I'm going to find any answers so I might as well stop stressing about it and move on.
Once I'm done showering, I turn off the water and hop out, drying myself off. When I hear the front door open I instantly freeze.
Seconds later I hear a voice call from the hallway, making me nearly jump out of my own skin. "Alayziah!" It's mom.
"Uh, yeah. Hey mom, I'm just getting out of the shower," I yell back.
"Okay. Well sweetie, I have to go to a late notice work meeting. They called me in today, and I won't be back until Wednesday. I brought home groceries for the next two days though," my moms voice was rushed as I stepped out of the bathroom, a towel wrapped around my body.
This is the absolute worst time she could leave me home alone. I opened my mouth to deny her of leaving, but if I told her what happened to me then I'd have to tell her about the party and I would never see the light of day again. Running a hand through my hair, I let out a long, distressed sigh.
"But I'll miss you mom, do you really have to go? Can't someone else jump in for you?" Shoving cereal into my mouth I plea to her.
She laughs loudly and shakes her head at me. "Oh Layz, as much as I would love to, we could really use the extra money. We've done this before, you'll be perfectly fine. I love you, be safe and see you soon," she kisses me on both cheeks and taps the top of my head before grabbing her bags and heading out the doors.
I wipe her wet kiss from my cheeks and take my bowl of cereal into the front room, sit it down and quickly grab clothes from my room to slip on. Panties and a large t shirt, not like anyone was home to see me anyway. Since I had nothing else to do, I spent the entire day watching TV before I fell into a lazy slumber around 11:30.
