~Competition~
It’s been a week since Jake and I broke up and I can’t stop thinking about him! I feel bad for breaking up with him, but then again, I know that I did the right thing. I am afraid that if I keep thinking about him, I might forget my dance. “Em, let’s go!” I hear Crystal yell at me. I snap out of my thoughts and pop up. “Ok, I’m coming!” I say as I jog towards her. “You thinking about Jake?” she whispers into my ear. I nod. She puts an arm around my shoulders and tells me, “Let’s go out and win this and then I will take you to go see him, k?” I smile at her and say, “K.” She pulls me into a hug and squeals. I giggle at her and I take my spot in front of the whole team. We hear our name be introduced I lead the cheer squad out to the mats. This is the last competition before finals. We all get into our positions and wait for the music to begin. I look out into the crowd and see my brother talking to someone. The person turns around and I see Jake. “Oh shit.” I mumble under my breath. “What?” asks Tom, who was my spot. “Oh, sorry, that wasn’t towards you!” I tell him. He smiles and turns his head as the music begins. What the hell is he doing here! Tom lifts me up and I am taken by surprise. I get my balance back and go up in my form. As the music continues, I keep looking up and see Jake. I’m being for real, why is he here! When Crystal and I are getting ready for our jump, she asks me, “Dude, what’s up with you?” I look at her and shake my head. I’m close to tears, but I keep myself from doing so. When Crystal and I were up in our pose, Jake and my eyes lock. Gosh, I want him back! He smiles and I instantly look away. I walk to the back of the mat and stand in cheer position. I wait for my queue in the music and start my flip combination. When I land the routine is over, but when I look up at Oliver and see him holding Jake by the shoulders. I then see Jake fall into Oliver’s arms. “Someone call an ambulance!” Yells Oliver. A couple of people begin to gather around Oliver. I turn to Crystal and she looks at me. “We need a doctor!” Oliver yells again. “My mom’s a nurse!” yells a little 10 year old girl. A woman then moves people out of the way saying, “Give the boy space.” I take no time to think and I sprint up the stairs to Jake. “Jake!” I scream. Oliver steps in front of me and grabs my shoulders. “Em, Em stop.” He says. “Jake! Jake!” I scream again. “Amelia, stop!” he says. He pulls me to him in a hug. “Amelia, its ok. It’s ok.” He tells me. I cry into his shoulders. “Make way for the paramedics!” yells the nurse. I look up and see that Jake is being put on a gurney. “C’mon, I’ll take you to the hospital.” Says Oliver. I nod and let him lead me to his car. I get in and we drive. I am completely zoned out during the whole car ride to the hospital. When we get there, Jake is rushed to immediate care. Oliver, Crystal and I all wait to hear news. Crystal and I are talking when a doctor comes out and says, “Ms. Emerson, Jake would like to see you.”
