--Prologue--

He was absolutely stunning, with the most beautiful blue eyes and the lightest blonde hair. When he smiled, all of the girls swooned. When he spoke, his voice sounded like an angel. He only wore the finest of clothes made by the most amazing designers. When he was younger, Wes had been a great boy. His behavior was perfect and his mother spoiled him rotten. His father had been the same. The words to describe William Martell were cruel, sadistic, abusive, and unstable. Bill treated his son and wife with contempt and made their lives miserable. He physically abused his wife to the point where she abandoned Wes, leaving him alone with his father. The demons that plagued his father had soon started to plague Wes. The sweet boy turned spiteful, the kind  heart turned cold, and the loving nature he had was tainted forever.

------

Wesley Martell was a man of many faces; he had charm, a bubbly personality, and he could keep all eyes on him. That's how he met his future wife, Georgia Smythe. His wealthy father, Bill, had been throwing a celebratory party for one of his successful business ventures. ad been telling a wild story about wrestling with kangaroos in Australia when he spotted her, the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. The rest, they say, is history..

Wes and Georgia married in front of their closest friends and family, soon after announcing they were expecting a child. The marriage had gone smoothly until Georgia had started to see the real Wes, the Wes who couldn't control his anger. The Wes who was plagued with inner demons that made him do horrible things. The first incident happened when she was 6 months pregnant with their unborn child. She had been pruning her flowers when she got the first pain. It had made her double over, the pain so severe. Wes had been admiring her from his lawn chair, sipping a martini. When she had doubled over, Wes immediately ran to her side. He helped her into his chair and checked to make sure she was okay, but that was where his sweet concern ended. He started throwing things, yelling at her about her recklessness. She could have killed their baby over some stupid flowers that were easily replaceable.

After, he had apologized and promised to never treat her that way again. He kneeled by her stomach, kissing it, and swore to never treat their child that way, too. Georgia had believed it at the time, but if she knew then what she knows now, she would have immediately kicked him out of the house to be free from the wrath of Wesley Martell. The verbal and mental abuse disappeared for the most part, but it came back on rare occasions. Like when they were doing to an appointment with their doctor and they nearly got into an accident. Wes had yelled at the driver of the car; the woman only wanting to get her kids to school on time. And the next time, when a man had looked at her the wrong way. Wes had nearly knocked the man out and surely would have if she wouldn't have feigned pains in her back.

Georgia knew it was the final straw when he had told her she was a waste of space over a broken picture frame. She stayed with him however when his father had passed away unexpectedly. Wes' father had been a man of many trades; he owned businesses of varying degrees, made investments and purchased stocks, and bet regularly on football games. That all fell on Wes' shoulders after he died, and that was when she knew Wes had become unhinged.

Douglas, "Duke", Martell was born shortly after. Georgia was going to stay with Wes until she could find a stable home for Duke, but soon found Wes' ongoing abuse too much to handle. He had thrown a vase at her with Duke in her arms, him only being a few months old and very fragile. Georgia packed her stuff while Wes was sleeping, making her escape the next morning while Wes was at a meeting.

Wes had been served the divorce and custody papers that morning, conveniently, and his demons told him to force his wife to stay. No matter what he had to do, he'd keep her there with him. He'd keep his son and they would never leave him. So he drove erratically home, storming into his house once he arrived to find no one. He did find Georgia's goodbye note, however. It said,
