Today would be me and my sweet Brianna’s anniversary, I remembered painfully.
Memories of our 4th anniversary flooded in to my mind so fast like a crystal blue waterfalls’ water falling down swiftly to the rocks that lie beneath. I stood behind her with my arms wrapped tightly around her small waist, watching the pure white snow fall gently to the ground, like a feather lost from a graceful flying elegant eagle. Brianna’s sky blue eyes, now a misty dark blue, shimmered with happiness and amazement.
We stood on a hill that once had gorgeous flowers bestowed upon it now replaced by soft wet and cold snow. The hill held an amazing view within its grasp. Just below the hill a couple miles north was a forest, now dead and naked, but beautiful still and silent all at the same time.
Brianna always said the view from here was beautiful and that she wanted to come see it with me during the winter, she was so right. It took my breath away and made me realize how happy I am with her. Brianna turned around to face me the snow melted on her elegant perfect nose and her pink lips were turned up into a gentle kind smile, a smile I favored so much.
A smile that gave me hope about finding my true love when we first met. I studied the way she looked; she was wearing a fur coat with brown gloves to match perfectly with it. Her fur coat hid the long black denim jeans she wore. The boots she wore were black and reached all the way up to the bottom of her knees. Fur breached at the top of them. Beautiful in every way, she is.
Brianna wrapped her arms around my neck and whispered ‘I love you’ to me. Wrapping my arms around her once again, I leaned my forehead against hers and stared into her eyes. ‘I love you too my love’ I whispered back and then kissed her softly.
She broke the kiss first and laid her head against my chest, breathless, as always. I stroked her soft cheek and continued looking out at the landscape that sat in front of us. A couple of minutes later I remembered, the ring. I bought a ring today, hoping that soon I can propose to her. Maybe today is the day.
“Brianna?” She looked up at me as I said her name. God, her eyes, I could just stare into them all day long.
“Yes?” she asked a hint of curiosity in her voice.
“We should go out to dinner.” I suggested.
“Okay, I would love to” she smiled at me let go of me and ran in front of me “I’ll race you to your car!” she shouted bubbling with energy and running towards my car. I ran after her, the snow beneath me crunching as I put my foot down on it. Eventually, I caught up to her and got to the car before her. “That’s not fair why you always win. You cheater!” She accused.
I laughed “Why race someone if you can’t even deal with losing darling” I put my hand on her head and then I walked past her and opened the passenger’s seat door for her. I waved my hand towards the seat “Ladies first” I smiled a pearly white toothy grin. She glared at me and got into the car.
I walked to the other side and got in and drove off to the Belmont Restaurant. She loved this place so much. The streetlights zoomed past us and Brianna stared out the window with her hands in her lap amazed by the scenery of our town. I studied every movement she made from the corner of my eye every time we got to a stoplight, this being because she amazes me so easily.
