Bullet In the Gun

Dave:

It's 3am and I can't sleep. Dad shipped of for the front-lines this morning. The last thing he did was kiss my mom, hug my 11 year old brother Danny, and shake my hand. He looked in my eyes and a tear started to form. He wiped it away and walked out the door.

As he drove away in his big black pick-up truck I heard him yell back at us.

"I love y'all!" Then his truck disappeared out of view. Mom walked into their bedroom and closed the door. She didn't come out again until it was time to cook dinner. For the short time she was out where me and Danny could see her, her eyes were full of tears. After dinner she disappeared back into their bedroom.

Danny although went back to playing when he left, but it wasn't with as much of a happy attitude as before. I sat down on the couch and watched the Tv, but I wasn't really watching it. I was alternating between deep thought and watching Danny. I just couldn't stop thinking about my dad and if he was coming back this time or not. He had been deployed plenty of times before but one day his luck had to run out, and I had an ominous feeling it was getting closer, and closer.

As I pulled up to the base I saw the legendary F-14 Tomcat takeoff from the base. The base I was at was Base Bravo, Lima, Alpha, Charlie, Kilo, 1. Better known as B.L.A.C.K.-1. Black-1 is a super top secret military base near the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Al. On maps it's shown as apart of the arsenal but, it's a completely different thing. Satellite images are changed to not show the base. Every possible measure is taken to hide Black-1.

Black-1 is used for extremely top secret operations. Any plane that has ever flown, an entire fleet is stored at Black-1. Every possible type of gun at least one is stored at Black-1. Black-1 is only known by the people that are stationed there or are extremely high up in the government. So, me being assigned here is an amazing honor.
