Chapter 3

This was the fourth time I had checked my phone. I promise, I'm no cell phone addict or some lonely teen waiting for a text message from their crush. No, I had a reason to be doing what I was doing.

The first time was to see what time it was.

The second time was to see if Parker had called or text me.

The third time was to make sure no one was attempting to contact me.

The fourth time was when I had to use the flashlight when I had to pee behind a tree.

And now as I clicked the little bump on the top of my phone, I was checking my phone for a fifth time.

It was currently eight in the morning and my body was demanding a refresh. My legs ached as if I had walked across the desert. My mouth was swollen shut from the lack of water. My stomache could have been heard a mile away from how empty it was. I was alone.

It had taken me a few hours of walking alone in the woods to come to terms with the fact that I was...well, alone. I had no one to keep me company and remind me that I was still sane or any person to check up on me. Everyone I knew was either dead or wanted me dead. I could easily contact Parker but I was afriad that if I did, someone would find out and he would be punished.

I snapped out of my thoughts as I heard a loud clink echo throughout the forest.

Was this where I was going to die? Did someone know I was headed on this route? They shouldn't. I'm going the complete opposite direction Parker told me about.

Okay, okay. Yell at me all you want. But before you get any angrier than you already are, just keep this in mind. Parker did say that our pack knew all the places he was guiding me to, that's why I had to be quick. He also said that any other place to go would be unsafe.

Though, then again, everywhere is unsafe for me now. If I travel towards where Parker told me to go, I'll be safe for a maximum of two days before I would have to start moving again. If I stayed at my pack I would have already been forced into position. I was definitely safer where I was than where I should be.

'I don't know why you bother going this way. You said yourself that we're going to die, definitely. Why not at least die in a safe place?' Alycia came up into my mind again.

I shook her off and continued thinking. Leaving the country wouldn't help at all. My pack was allies with other packs, approximately eighty-nine packs in each country. I've seen the things my dad does to other people. Now that he was dead, someone had to fill in his role. It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that they would beat me to a pulp. Disrespecting an alpha means ultimate death, unless you're of course their mate.
