The Darkness

    I woke up in the house sweating from head to toe and covered in rags on a mattress laying down. "What....What happened?" I stuttered as I sat up then flinched as past events flooded my mind. "Just keep calm... I think... I think a wolf might have attacked you." Ma said slowly. "Wait what?! Wait... no a wolf didn't but a .... dog?" I said questionably. "Oh baby.. just rest for now and we'll sort it out later ok?" said Pa as he sat down next to me on the bed. "Yeah just rest. You've gone through a lot last night let's just all calm down." said Ma as she started shaking. "Why are you telling us to calm down...."Pa started to say when "OH MY GOSH MY BABY GIRL!!!! MY BABY GIRL!!! Ma started to repeatedly say as she sobbed into my fathers arms. My father slowly took her out of the room and signaled to me that she would be alright.

   Later in the day Ma came back into my room with some soup. "I'm...I'm really sorry about earlier Dawn. I really am. I don't know what's gotten into me just the thought of my baby girl getting hurt aches my heart...it really does." I stood up shakily and hugged her. "You know I'm strong Ma. You don't have to worry about me I will be fine." I whispered into her ear. "I know you will, it's just I want you to be safe." said staring into my eyes. "I will be. " I said smiling at her. "Now you just lay here and rest. Don't worry about any of your chores just rest. I want you to get better." she said while fluffing my pillow. "Thanks Ma." I said quietly as I drifted oft to sleep.

 "Wake up sleepy head!!" I heard a strange voice as I was sleeping. Is this in my dreams? I felt water spray all over me. Nope not a dream. I opened my eyes and asked, "Who's there?" as a figure jumped onto my bed. "Only the best  brother in the whole wide world!" said a person staring down at me. "Oh then it must not be Devon." I teased. "Ouch! That hurt!" he said glaring at me. "Hey your not the one who got attacked by a dog last night!" I said glaring back at him. "Well-Hey I thought it was a wolf that attacked you last night. Why would a dog attack you?" he said questionably. "If I knew I would tell you." I said staring at the ground. "Well, if your ok now that's all that matters!" he said nudging me. "Yeah, I guess so..." I started to say and then my mind seem to flood with what had happened and a strange voice entered my head, "Do not be afraid, I will not hurt you."  I started to panic and I tried to fight it off when I heard it again,"Stop fighting it. That is what made you fall the last time. You looked at me as darkness, and yet I am your only source of light." But what about my family? I thought as I was mixed with emotions. I was not afraid for when I stopped struggling no sign of pain was brought to me. "They will be no help where we're going..." said the voice one last time then I felt my body being swept up out of the bed and the last thing I heard was Devon's voice screaming," Their taking her!!! Their taking Dawn!!! Help!! Somebody Help!!!!..."
