Day 1
I noticed a really pretty girl sitting by herself on a nearby bench. She was writing in a journal and didn't look up when I sat beside her. I pulled out my note book and began to read over my notes. I couldn't help to look over hoping she was looking at me aswell. But she wasn't. Her eyes were glued to her journal.
"Beautiful day isn't it?" I tried but she didn't respond. I couldn't help but to watch her. Finally she looked at me. I smiled and she looked confused. "Can I borrow your pen?" I asked nervously. She nodded and handed her pen over. I wrote down my name and handed it back. "I appreciate it." She smiled and returned to her journal again. "Um hey." I waved my hand infront of her. "What are you listening to?" She just pointed to her head phones then continued to write. I sighed and got up. "Bye." I said but she didn't respond.
Day 2
I waited at the same bench the following day, in hopes to see her again. I sat their for ten minutes when I spotted her coming. She sat down with her earphones in and journal out. I had a pad of sticky notes and a red sharpie. I wrote: what are you listening to? And stuck it on her paper. She looked up at me and smiled. She reached for a sticky note.
'A special song.' She stuck it to my paper. We did this back and forth.
I finally replied: can I listen?
'No I'm embarrassed'
'Can I have your number?'
'Sorry I don't have one'
'That's a terrible lie' she smiled
'I'll be here tomorrow. See you then?'
I nodded and smiled. She got up and waved goodbye.
Day 3
She was already sitting at the bench when I arrived. I sat down and she stuck a sticky note on my note book.
'It's nice to see you again.' She wrote
'Same to you. How are you?'
'I'm doing good. It's a beautiful day.'
'Not as beautiful as you.' She smiled.
'I'm sorry I don't remember your name.'
'Its ok I never said it. My names Eloy Medina.'
'My names Alma Munoz.'
'That's beautiful. Will I ever get to hear your voice?'
'Trust me you don't want to.'
'Why not?'
She looked down at her sticky note.
'Did you want to listen to my special song?'
'Sure.'
She handed me her ear phones and I put them in my ears. But there was no music.
"That's funny I don't hear anything." I said. Alma's expression looked sad. She started to move her hands in sign language. I didn't understand what she was trying to say but I realized she was deaf.
'That's why I never talk. I'm sorry. I hope we can still be friends. I really don't have a phone.' She wrote. I sighed and looked at the sticky note. I pulled out a New sticky pad and wrote:
'You are beautiful.'
