The song is Boulevard of broken dreams by Green Day, the first line is "I walk a lonely road" and the last one is "'Till then I walk alone".
Hundreds of brain dead children spill from the doors of school when the bell rings. Those who are lucky enough to have willing parents only have to travel to the door of a car. Those who live in a neighboring town begin the one kilometer walk to the train. Those who live in town start their walk toward home. And those of us who live in more remote areas, we wander down to the bus loop.
The ride is uneventful; rowdy primary school kids and gossiping high schoolers are nothing out of the ordinary. One by one, we get dropped off. Some lucky kids are dropped straight at the front of their house; others are dropped at a waiting car. Finally, my stop comes. I put my book back into my bag as we approach. careful not to slip on the less than clean floor, I say thanks to the bus driver and step off into a cloud of dust kicked up by the heavy vehicle.
The bus leaves, and I'm alone.
My isolated street has only one school aged child on it. If I had a sibling, we could walk together. Hopefully one day, someone will move in and I won't be my own company for a desolate journey that I take daily. One day, I'll have a companion to pull me out of my detrimental thoughts in a depressing journey, the one between school and homework. One day.
Until then, I'll walk alone.
250 words is not a lot! But there you go :) Hopefully I can write something better for the next couple days! I'm more into humorous stuff, but a bit hard with those lines. But, there should be some laughs in later days!
