I was a bit worried about this one, because I thought I was the only one up . But then my Mum came in. I waited for her to say something. Finally, she looked at the cat and said:

"I can see a tail waggling."
I nodded in relief. For a brief moment, I thought all the tadpoles in our pond had died of shock after my miniature pony had fallen in. Well, more like jumped in.

I guess it sorta was my fault. We had a show coming up in a few weeks. I knew Chip, my pony that I show, could jump. I wanted to test that he wouldn't refuse a distracting obstacle. He had no problem flying over hay bales, laundry baskets or a small coffee table. So, the pond, which was only 50cm across with no height, should have been easy. Right?

The approach had been fine. He backed off a little bit, but I knew he could jump in from a standstill if nessesary, so that didn't bother me. I glanced over as he should have been taking off. Turns out he slowed down so that he could go straight in. Thankfully the pond isn't very deep.

After his forelegs were submerged and half his chest was underwater, he looked up at me as if to say, "What now?"

Getting him out had been troublesome, and resulted in me getting absolutely soaked. My small, five foot frame had to haul Chips front legs out of the water, which he clearly did not approve of. He showed his dismay, kicking around and doing everything he could to make me let go of him. Eventually, our neighbour took pity and helped me get him out. Now, the shining palomino coat was drenched with muddy water. I looked at him. "Chip, you are the silliest horse I've ever met. Ever."

With a glint in his eye, he stepped forward. I ran towards him to stop him, but it was too late. For the second time today, he plunged into the small pond.
