Gone

That morning I "escaped" before anyone in my house was even awake. I made it and started to walk down an old, dirt road. Where was I even going? I had no idea. I was just going to walk. And walk.
Finally, I stumbled across a deep forest and I started to enjoy my surroundings again. I had always loved nature and now I practically lived in it. Once I sat down under a shade providing tree, I heard a crinkling in the woods.
"Who's out there? Show yourself!" I screamed. I had then come to the realization that I could just be talking to an animal or even the wind. A minute later I found a bow and arrow carved out of twigs on the dirty ground.
"Whoever did this must have a lot of talent."
"That would be me," a voice from 5 feet away whispered.
I quick pointed the bow and arrow at the mysterious voice from behind the trees.
"Whoa. Please don't shoot."
"Come into the light," I demanded.
"Okay, okay," his voice said slowly. His hands were raised innocently.
"Where do you come from," I shouted.
"A couple miles away."
"Fine. If that's all you want to tell me. Just leave me alone."
"Wait. What's your name?" he asked me.
"I'm Kristen Jones. What's yours?"
He didn't answer.
We looked at each other awkwardly until he said something again.
As he began to say something to me, my arm was pulled down and he yelled "Duck."
"What are you doing?" I asked him.
"Saving your life. Raiders are attacking."
"What are raiders?" I asked, filled with worry.
"I'll explain later. Right now, we need to get out of here."
We took off running in the other direction. I looked down at our hands and they were touching! Wait- why am I excited about this? I didn't want anything to do with this guy just a minute ago. Oh well. I loved it now.
"Here, get in!"
He gestured to a broken down plane beside a bush.
"So," I began. "You have a lot of experience with this kind of stuff?"
"Yeah," he whispered motioning to be quiet and that we could be caught any minute.
"Sorry," I mouthed back at him. "So, you're not even going to tell me your name?"
"No. I'm afraid of what will happen when you find out."
After that statement, I looked at him oddly and the stars started to appear in the night sky. We drifted off to sleep only to be woken up by something unexpected.
