I heard my phone buzzing, what time is it even? Looking over at Vic's clock read 8:40. I tore myself from his arms and jumped up. I frantically started looking for my clothes. Once I had them on, I raced to the door. My attempt on not waking Vic failed, resulting in his wake.
"Kellin," he said groggily. "What are you doing? You're dressed. Are you leaving me?"
"No, baby. No," I told him. "I have church at nine. Mr. Way is coming to pick me up and I can't be late. Plus, I sing today,"
"Church?" He asked. "Wouldn't you like, burn?"
"Funny but no," I said. "I've gotta get home and find some clothes. See you, later,"
"Yeah," he said before turning back over and covering himself with the blankets.
I left it at that and left his room, shutting it behind me. I jogged down the steps and almost made it to the door before a voice stopped me.
"You're dating Vic," Mike's voice had a power that made me stop in my step.
"Yeah, yeah I am," I said. "What's it to ya?"
"Oh nothing," he turned back to the tv.
I shrugged it off, but before I went out the door completely I heard him mutter, "It won't last long,". He must've thought I didn't hear it, but I did. I shut the front door behind me before running across the street and unlocking my front door.
Walking in felt different. Usually whenever I enter the door, I'm greeted by my mommy's comforting arms. I sighed to myself and went to my room to find some clothes.
Instinctually, I grabbed a pink sweater but stopped myself. The whole church knew about me and my sexual orientation and my confusion of specific gender. They referred to me as a boy, not that I minded, and boys wear blue. Boys wear blue, not pink.
I put the sweater back and found a blue button up, a blue polka-dot sweater, and blue pants (media). I brushed my teeth quickly and slid on my white TOMS. I ran outside to the driveway as I heard a car honking.
"Hello, Mr.Way, thanks so much for picking me up today," I said. "It's been so hectic, with my mom in the hospital, school, people, trying to figure out-"
"Okay, Kellin," he chuckled. "It's okay,"
I smiled and buckled up as he drove away. I pulled out my phone and played 'Spinny Circle'. I hated how I couldn't get the ball to drop on the correct colored platform.
"Kellin?" Mr. Way asked, I hummed in response. "How's the whole gender thing going?"
That's another reason my mother trusted Gerard, he was accepting no matter what. He was the most religious person at our church, beside Pastor Urie, but he was okay with my sexual preferences and my gender stuff.
"It's okay," I said. "It can just get super confusing. Like- Never mind, I'm just ranting,"
"No, go on," he insisted.
"It's just that, I'm satisfied with my boy parts but, I don't want to look like on on the outside?" I shook my head. "It's so confusing ,"
To keep myself from further consultation, we pulled up into the parking lot of the church. I unbuckled my seatbelt and got out before grabbing my phone.
"Kellin!" I turned my head to see Oliver Sykes. He came up to me and pulled me into a hug. "Haven't seen you in a while."
"Mommy said not to hang with delinquents like you," I told him.
