My face feels sticky from my dried tears. The ringing in my ears is still there. But it's not as loud as it used to be. My main problem is that the sun is going to set soon. If I want to live, I have to get out of here. I need to find real shelter. The night is the worst time to be outside. Especially in the woods. We are commanded by the King, that once the sun sets, all doors shall be locked. Windows blocked, and no one should step outside.

I pick up Jake, who has finally fallen asleep. I start walking deeper into the wood's, hoping that there is a way out. I have never liked walking in the forest. When I was little, my mother and I went into the forest to pick some flowers. I was so scared, that something was going to pop up out of the black woods. Having this thought in my head makes me shiver with fear. I know it was long ago, but I'm not good at overcoming fears.

To calm myself down, I listen to the dry leaves crunch beneath my old, torn shoes. I lived with my Aunt Tori. Once my father disappeared, and my mother died, Jake, Ella, and I were sent to go live with her. She had a very big house, it was like a mansion. She is very beautiful, but not very nice. We all shared one room, the smallest of them all. We had no beds, just one couch. Our clothes were old and used. She took very good care of Jake, though, he had nice clothes and a bed. But that was only because we worked for her, it was our little deal.

I jump 'You there' I hear someone shout. ' What are you doing in the woods so close to sunset.' I finally see his face, but his body is hidden behind a bush. He has dark blue eyes and brown hair.

'May I ask you the same.' I say. He steps out from behind the bush.

'I am A Knight from the kings army.' I freeze not knowing what to do. 'Now, why don't you get back home.' He says

'I wish I could.' I say 'My home is destroyed' I see him look at Jake, who is now awake. 'That's what everyone say's. Just because you got pregnant does not mean you have to run away from your family.' He says I run his words in my head a few times, so I can understand what he is saying.

'What!?? no no...This is my brother, and I am not lying. The-the..' I take a deep shaky breath. 'The Fog came to my house' I say quickly He pauses for a minute to study me.

'Come with me. I'll take you to a shelter for the night'

We start walking under the caved in trees. 'What's your name?' He kindly asks

'Penney and this is Jake' I gently pat Jakes' nose. Jakes smile makes my heart melt. 'Yours?' I ask him

'Chase.' He answers 'May I hold him, Penney?'

'Be careful' I say. I hand him, Jake. In the quietness, all I can think about is my sister. How the fog took her life for no reason. She deserved to live longer, much longer.

The worst noise echo's through the woods. I run. I hear Chase yelling, 'Watch out for the tree Penney!!!' First there's pain that jolts in my head, then there is darkness.

I wake up in a bright tan room. I am Dressed in comfy, stylish clothes. I'm on a very comfy bed. There is a really big window that lets in a lot of light. A tall muscular man walks in the room with heavy armor on. 'Welcome home Princess Penney' In that moment my eyes widen. Princess who?
