Evan's POV

She's still asleep. How is she still asleep? I need her to wake up, I need to see her pretty eyes and her beautiful smile again.

It has been 2 weeks since the accident and I hadn't left her side, not once. Her parents were there too. They sat in the far corner of the hospital room and her mom silently cried as her dad stared straight ahead. None of us knew what to do with ourselves. How could we ever handle it if she never woke up?

Melissa Hope Grant. The most important person in my life. I honestly don't think I can live without her. The thought brings tears to my eyes

"Come on, Lissa." I whisper into her ear, for about the 30th time," I need you!"

I watch her for any change, but there is none. Her beautiful green eyes stay shut, and her limbs lay still and motionless. I smooth down her gorgeous golden hair with my finger tips.

She has the longest most beautiful hair. It is golden from many hours spent in the sun. She had talked about cutting it this past summer, but I told her I wouldn't allow it. I loved her hair, I would lay next to her and play with it for hours. She would joke around saying that she should teach me how to braid so I wouldn't be wasting time messing around with her hair.

Those memories fill me. Times when we would go on long walks, picnics, or just lay in her backyard staring up at the clouds.

We live in Ohio. In a town called Greenside. It was named for its beautiful rolling hills. This is where we liked to picnic.

I can't lose her, I just can't! She is the love of my life. I don't know what I would do with out her.

I hope for the best. I can imagine her waking up, now. She would her open her eyes and see me. And she would smile her perfect smile, where her eyes sparkle and get little crinkles beside them. Oh, how I would love to see her smile right now. Then she would lean over and give me a kiss.

"Melissa Hope Grant, you are torturing me please, please, please wake up. I need you! And your family needs you! You can't just leave us!" I say desperately. Nothing happens, no change in Melissa.

Her mother, Natalie, gets up from her chair and taps me on the shoulder. I turn to face her.

"I'm going to get some food. Is there anything you need," she asks.

The first thing that comes to my mind when she says the word 'need' is yes I do need something, I need Melissa. But I know that isn't what she means.

"No, but thank you, Mrs. Grant." I say giving her the best smile I can muster up.

"Ok, I will be back soon," she says, looking over her shoulder at her half asleep husband.

I watch her head toward the door. But just as she starts to turn the knob, I hear I low moan coming from Melissa's bed. I turn around immediately and stare, wide-eyed, as she starts to mumble.

"John, wake up!" Mrs. Grant whisper-yells at her husband, shock evident in her voice. He wakes with a start and automatically jumps to his feet. Then comes over to Melissa's bed, where her mother and I both are.

That's when it happens. All of the sudden with no warning, Melissa opens her eyes.
