Amberkit's Quest

Chapter 2

Amberpaw stumbled out of her den. It had been six moons since she became an apprentice. It was a clan meeting. Bramblestar had a few tears in his eyes.

"Unfortunately, Squirrelflight is no longer among us. It has come for me to appoint a new deputy. I saw these words before Starclan hoping they will accept my choice."

Would it be Lionblaze? Or Graystripe? Or Cloudtail!!!

"Cloudtail will be the new deputy of Thunderclan!"

"YEAH!" Amberpaw, Dewpaw, Snowpaw, Whitewing, Birchfall and Brightheart all shouted.

Dovewing and Ivypool had a face of delight.

"Thunderclan, I am grateful for this position as deputy. All I can ask for now is for you and Starclan to guide me on this path, wherever it takes me."

Murmurs took over the clan.

"Since Fireheart died he can't stop thanking Starclan! Maybe he has finally reliased after the battle Starclan existed!"

"Empty words if you ask me"

These were the most popular ones. Cloudtail stepped down from the highledge and joined Brightheart who was jumping up and down.

"Right dawn patrol, Berrynose, Ivypool, Lionblaze and Amberpaw!"

Lionblaze was about to say something when Amberpaw stood on his paw.

"I wanna go for a patrol, we can go hunting after!" She didnt want to ruin this for her father.

"Can we go on the hunting patrol after? I promised Amberpaw I'd take her hunting!"

"You can go now! Bumbleflight and Lilypaw can go on the dawn patrol instead. I'll come with you for hunting, Dewpaw, Snowpaw, Whitewing and Icecloud can come to."

Amberpaw realised all her siblings were with her! She suddenly jumped for joy. Brightheart stepped out.

"Can i join?"

"Sure."

"Sunhigh patrol will be Dovewing, Brackenfur, Brairlight and Seedpaw."

"Sure!"

"Sunset patrol will be Sorreltail, Thornclaw, Foxleap and Birchfall. Moonhigh will be Mousewhisker, Cinderheart, Sanstorm and Dustpelt. Moonrise will be Hazeltail, Spiderleg, Graystripe and Squirrelflight."

The cats mentioned leaped into action.

Cloudtail stepped down from the rock he was standing on.

"You did well Dad!" Amberpaw said.

"I learnt from Fireheart. Now, Amberpaw, Dewpaw and Lionblaze, you come with me, Brightheart, Icecloud, Whitewing and Snowpaw can go on their own. We will meet outside the camp at Sunhigh. One second, ill organise the other hunting patrols."

"Graystripe, do you mind going in hunting partol after we come back, have a rest and take three cats with you. Toadstep do the same only go after Graystripe. Try not to get any cats on patrol."

"Sure Cloudtail!" They echoed.

After catching a squirrel and rabbit and a couple of mice for the elders, Amberpaw was pleased with the prey they got.

After returning to camp the air was full of fear.

"What is wrong?"

"Bramblestar got attacked by a fox. He has lost a life." Jayfeather reported.

"Let me see if. If Starclan have any mercy they wouldnt let this happen soon after the battle with the dark forest."

"You may see him, he has recovered."
