*Taylah's POV*
I opened my eyes to see the dim morning sun shining through the thin material of my my curtains, and the birds singing wonderful melodies.
No, just kidding. Haha, that wasnt even close. I woke up to the dark silence of the night (no birds included. they were all sleeping), and checked my alarm clock. 4:39 A.m.
Why am I up this early, you ask? Well, Today is the day the I'm taking a trip to my Dad's house, all the way from California to Tennessee. That's quite a ways, if you ask me.
"Morning Mum!" I shouted down the stairs.
"Mornin' Sweetheart! Are you packed and ready for your Dad's?"
Was I packed and ready? Hmm, lets see. I packed (and re-packed) my 3 luggage bags far too many times to count, and I had both of my carry-on's stuffed to the brim with electronics (including my laptop, which, by the way, was a hassle to fit in the small carry-on) and food (duh).
"I've passed the 'ready mark' and... uh..." I trailed off. Well, I was going to come up with a clever analogy, but English has never been my best subject. "Never mind... Yeah, Im ready," I mumbled, tugging the luggage down the staircase.
My Mom rounded the corner and just stared for a second. What was she looking at? And then I looked down at myself.
Oh. I had one of my carry-on's slung around my neck, and the other one I was holding with my teeth. Then I had a luggage bag in each hand, and finally I had the third luggage bag looped in the crease of my elbow. So, I might've looked a bit... odd, to say the least.
"Need some help?" She mused, shaking her head.
I giggled," Maybe just a little..." She shook her head and grabbed hold of two of my bags, taking at least 100 lbs. off of my arms. I sighed in relief and set all the bags at the bottom of the stairs.
"Well, he'll be here any minute now..." Mom said, giving me a hug. I hugged her, then started bouncing around the kitchen, looking for a midnight (or 4 am, rather) snack. I had just ripped open a bag of strawberry PopTarts when the doorbell rang.
"I got it!" I called, sprinting over to the door. I undid the deadbolt lock, and turned the knob. Before I could get the door completely open, a pair of hands grabbed me and picked me up. I screamed, beating my captor on the back as he slung me over his shoulder.
"Dad! Put me down!" I laughed, kicking and squirming under his grasp. (I actually wasn't being kidnapped, HA.). We loaded all of my bags in the car, and hit the road around 5 am. Not a bad start, considering it will take us around 1 day, 7 hours and 36 minutes to get there by car, according to my laptop, which I had already unloaded and hooked up, including the wifi hotspot. We were going to be staying in 2 hotels on the way there. Ugh. Why couldn't we just have flown? Flying would've been much easier, not to mention less expensive (with gas prices these days...),a LOT quicker... The list could go on and on. But, my dad being the way he is, refused to do anything in the least bit 'modern'. It was old fashioned all the way for him. So, anyways... 31 hour trip (with my dad) here I come.... Oh Lordy...
