"What went down here?" I ask myself as I arrive into the outer skirts of the city. Everything looks wrecked and crumbled just like the building I was trapped in.
"I need to find some help, find out what is going on" I say as I enter a old home. The house is falling apart, obviously, but this one looks like someone is trying to patch it up. Once I step foot in the house I am overwhelmed with the smell of rotting flesh.
"Ugh! Ew!" I immediately pinch my nose to mask the smell. I walk through the house looking for a person to ask my many questions. There are weapons scattered about the floor, along with some strange looking meat. I walk up the falling apart stairs towards the second floor of the home. I walk into the first room I see. I tried opening the door but it was jammed. I heard strange growling noises coming from the other side.
"I don't think I want to open this" I step away and check another room. Bad idea. The room I had walked in was connected with the locked room by a hole in the wall. Next thing I knew, the thing that was making the growling noise was right in front of me. I immediately make a run for it, the thing chased after me as soon as I ran. I ran back down the stairs and grabbed one of the many weapons that I had seen earlier.
"What am I thinking? I don't know how to use a gun!" I shout but try it anyway.
I make the first shot at the beast and shoot in the shoulder, I shot it again but I missed. The thing pounced on me and was trying to gouge out my eyeballs. I looked to the side and grabbed a brick that had fell from the fire place. I smacked the beast on the side of the head and watched it tumble over dead. I grabbed a bigger brick and repeatedly bashed it's head in until I got tired.
"Oh my god...that was frightening." I say panting by the now dead creature.
"What are you anyways?" I try to scan the creature but it twitched so I got scared and jumped back. I decided to get out of the house, but before leaving I grabbed a couple of stuff. I found an old back pack and started stuffing useful items in it that I found in the house. I took the pistol I used earlier, also with some ammo, and some canned goods I found while searching the kitchen.
"I have no idea how old these things are, but we're going to have to risk it."
I step outside of the house and notice it's about to become sun down, I think. This new planet thing in the sky is kind of confusing. I decide to keep going instead of stopping for the night. I really need to find some sort of safety. It was about mid-night time when I finally decided to take a brake and sleep. I felt really out in the open, but to help I climbed a tree and slept on a branch. I barely even slept, it felt like I'd been asleep for 2 centuries because I was not tired. by the time light shown in the sky, I climbed down the tree and headed towards the city once again. While heading to the city I stumble an old grave yard. I decide to pass through it, glad I made that decision. As I was walking through the grave yard I stumble upon a girl sitting on a tomb stone, I slowly approach her trying to scare her. I heard her singing in a beautiful voice as she was playing with the birds.
"Hello?" I say.
She slowly turned around with hair in her face.
"Yes, hello." She replied. She looked very shy.
"Um...hi! Um I'm trying to head to the city and I was wond-" I was cut off.
"Why on new earths sake would you want to go to that death trap of a place!" She asked with such fright.
"Wh-what do you mean? I'm looking for help" I stutter back.
"Well you're not going to find any help there." She sighed back.
"Then can you help me?" I ask.
"With what exactly?" She asked back.
"I am very lost, I-I don't know where I am, or what is going on around here...and I just want some explanations" I cry out. She looked very confused.
"You're in Euporhia, year 2216. Where have you been?" She stated
"WHAT! 2216?!" I screamed nearly passing out. She jumped with fright from me shouting.
"How is it 2216?"
"I don't know." She answered
Suddenly it all became clear. That building I was locked in was the reason. That strange fog/gas in that room made me fall asleep. Maybe also made it to where I didn't age.
"Oh my god." I froze.
"What?" What's wrong?" She became worried. I explained everything that had happened to me since I woke up to her and she froze aswell. She pushed her hair back from her face and I got a good look at her.
"Your-you're..."
"Dead? Yeah I know. Thanks" she said sarcastically.
"Beautiful." I manage to say. She looked at me weird.
"What?"
"You're beautiful." I repeated.
"Usually people say I'm ugly and run away, that's why I choose to stay in this grave yard." She explained herself.
"My names Quincy, by the way." I held my hand out to shake hers.
"Torelei" she stated and shook my hand.
"You're my first real friend out here" she said
"Same with you." I looked at her and smiled. I offered her if she wanted to come with me to find some safety and she kindly said yes. We look around more abandoned buildings for supplies and set up camp in an old park. It was nice, until morning came.(Hey guys it's me! The author! Hope you guys are all enjoying the story so far.
