Althea's POV
Something about those eyes made my insides tingle.I swear at that moment, that instance, nothing else mattered. She was walking towards the front of the church and I was walking the opposite way just meters away from her. My intention was to walk quickly, avoiding eye contact and exit the church but something deep in my heart told me to look to my right, so I did. As soon as our eyes met, my mouth became dry.. I couldn't think straight, all I could feel was how my cheeks were hurting from me smiling ear to ear. Her expression was different though, it was obvious we were both entranced by the gaze, but she seemed confused - as if she realized something. She broke the gaze and I rushed to the main door & let myself out.
The exchanging of vows between her brother & her now sister in law was done and everyone made their way to the dining area. I went back and forth to make sure everything was going smooth.
'Excuse me, Miss Althea? This place is amazing. Good job' One of the guests congratulated me.
I smiled and thanked him. It wasn't my best but I think I did a pretty good job on the decoration. I looked around the area proudly when someone caught my eye, it was her. That beautiful, beautiful face..
My mind wandered back to the moment earlier today in the church. I mean I don't even know her but, I felt like.. I felt like I've known her my entire life and as ridiculous as it sounds, I kinda saw a glimpse of my future through her eyes. But I brushed that thought away as I saw her talking rather intimately with this buff, Chinese-looking guy sitting next to her. I was this close to rolling my eyes. But I just looked away..
'Althea, I need your help......' I heard Batchi's voice from afar. I really was paying attention but that beautiful girl caught my attention and eyes once again. I still hated what I was seeing; she was still talking to him & I've never felt this jealous towards a stranger before until that particular moment.
'Don't hold you breath, chong. One, she's straight & two, she's the groom's sister'
Annoyed with the information I was hearing, I turned to face Batchi, rolled my eyes and walked away. 'Hey! I warned you' she continued and followed me
'I don't know what you're talking about. I was just.. looking around' I defended myself
Batchi's my best friend and I swear to God she can see right through me; she knows what I'm thinking about and what I feel. It scares me sometimes.
'Sure, Chong, sure' she said sarcastically.
I was about to grill Batchi with more questions but the sound of metal clink clanking against the wineglass Mr. Tanchingo was holding interrupted my wish.
As he was delivering his speech I felt a pair of eyes watching me. I tried to ignore it but to no avail, so I turned my head slightly.
At that moment I felt like the world had stopped. It was her.
