As always, kids were looking for trouble. Looking the latest spot to chill, the new drinks and of course new drugs. This shouldn’t strike you as odd. It happens every day. However, the odd thing is this new drug that so happened to come around. I can tell you now, the origin of this drug is and was not known. It was just something that was passed around by hand and word of mouth.

“Go get it from…” You know, like telephone. Soon, kids heard all about this drug, it was easy to sneak by adults for it looked, just like a Gummy Bear. The ones you bought from the store. Of course upon seeing this you would be very skeptical at first right? Good, so were the others. After only one small candy you were hooked. The feeling was out of this world, or so said from the very few survivors. That’s right. That is indeed where this is going.

This candy did not give you the common overdose. That is not what happened at all. This story, this tale that is merely being told because of the causes of death to these kids! This cause that gruesomely, horrifically- unknown. I am sharing with you what was told to me by one of the survivors of this ‘drug.’

“It all started on a Friday night, that was when we all met up. Frankie, Joey, Lizzie… And all of the other kids, plus me of course, there was a lot of us. There were always more kids each time, I never took the time to get to know any of them. Anyway, one day Frankie said he found some new stuff. This dude he met heard about our place. He wanted to come by, but would feel bad if he didn’t have anything to bring so he gave it to Frankie. He said he had more so there was no problem with us trying it before he got there.  After opening the bag all we saw was a bag of Gummy Bears. A few of the kids cursed at Frankie complaining that we were just fucked over. Frankie just told us to keep an open mind. But how could you ever suspect a Gummy Bear to be a drug? I thought it was pretty comical and I laughed saying might as well try it. So I popped one in my mouth.

It was like a Gummy Bear but sweeter, it was like it exploded in your mouth like the liquid filled candies. At first it kind of ached, it felt like I had too much sugar but then it numbed. My body was tingly all over, I felt light but I couldn’t control my body. It was a rush. After the initial feeling I blacked out. I woke up the next day feeling fine though. I told everyone that I had no memory of what happened. Apparently after they were convinced that I was not faking they all finished the bag.

We all agreed that we wanted more of this, whatever you would call it. Frankie agreed to go find the guy, and we were all supposed to wait but I wasn’t feeling well. I usually don’t have a bad reaction to drugs but my head was pounding. It felt like my brain was swelling inside of my skull. The place we stayed in for those nights had rooms in the back. I told everyone I was gonna nap it off until Frankie had gotten back. I don’t know how long I was out but I was woken up by someone shaking me violently. Something wet began to burn my arm. I yelped and jumped up. It was a girl. Her eyes were bulging out of her head and her mouth…. Her mouth was, I swear where the liquid hit it was burning her skin. She was crying for her mother and she just fell on the bed next to me. In a pool of her blood and.. And acid. I looked to see if she was ok, but I knew she was dead. Veins around her neck bulged out, her eyes were leaking a thick substance. It was like right out of a horror film. I was hoping that I was still tripping out of my mind and so I edged around her and the… mess. The room with the rest of the kids were no better. Some kids were choking on their own blood, or clawing at their throats. And Frankie, he was the worse. Lizzie and Joey both were trying to calm him down. His body was in the middle of a seizure, he was digging into Joey’s arm and his mouth seemed to be quickly decaying. I would say he was throwing up his own stomach acid. My stomach lurched and I covered my mouth in fear.

“Moya!” Lizzie called me and I looked up to her. She was shaking too, all of Frankie’s blood. His acid was burning through her clothes.  “Help me.” She cried. I couldn’t move. I wanted to but it was all setting in. Frankie was convulsing, each time dying down until  he shot up, forcing everything up. He fell forward in it and you could hear it burning through his flesh. Joey jumped up and yanked Lizzie away from it. Joey called the police. I was helpless, I was too afraid to move. Everything changed so quickly, I was asleep and woke up in the middle of a nightmare happening. Joey and Lizzie explained that everyone was popping them just like they were the real candy. One after another while I was asleep. They admitted to having a few but not as many as… Everyone else.”

So I ask you, Moya. What happened to the guy?

“I don’t know. Frankie was the only one who knew. Not even the police heard of the Gummy Bear. It was like we were chosen. As a test subject.”
