Prologue
Switching Avenged Sevenfold on and placing her Skullcandy's in her ears, Chlo held back the tears that pricked the corners of her eyes. Although her train was empty she refused to let her emotions get the best of her, or at least until she got home.
Avenged Sevenfold was the band HE got her into. Him being Kaname; the tall, dark haired, blue eyed love of Chlo's life. They had met spontainiously, starting with a random add on Myspace. She had never seen anyone like him in her life, so they started talking and after weeks of sleepless nights talking on MSN til early hours of the morning, they met up in Birmingham.
Chlo could still remember that day like it was yesterday; the nervousness while on the train to Birmingham, the hope that he would like her, the butterflies when the train pulled into the station, the sadness when he wasn't there, then the butterflies again when she saw him ascending on the escalators into the station.
He was tall, a lot taller than Chlo ever imagined, and made her feel ridiculously small. At 5ft2" she reached the bottom of his ribcage, the middle if she was on her tiptoes but still felt tiny compared to his 6ft1" build. Kaname was skinny, wearing a Deathnote t-shirt and skinny jeans which complemented his body, together with a warm looking, long black coat and black and white checkered scarf. His hair was a unique shade of chocolate brown, where in certain lights would look lighter but still emphasizing the extraordinary deep blue eyes which hypnotized Chlo the moment she looked into them.
She looked down at herself briefly. She hadn't made that much effort really, just slung on her favourite black skinnies, her Fallout Boy t-shirt and a black Criminal Damage hoody with multicoloured stars on. She hadn't done anything to her black and blonde hair and only put a slight bit of eyteliner and mascara on. She had felt a mess.
The day had gone well though. Chlo got her lip pierced, went for a meal, watched "The Rocker" at the cinema where they had their first kiss and had a laugh when a Jamaican man said they would make a cute couple after making the wrong, and rather embarrassing, assumption that they was an item. By the end of the night it was official, Chlo and Kaname was going out.
For the next few months everything was perfect and Chlo had even admitted to herself that although she was only 16, she had fallen for Kaname pretty hard and fast, and that she was in love.
Tonight, however, was the night it ended. The night where the perfect fairytale story came to an end. The night where things felt like they couldn't get any worse. Kaname had broke up with her because the hour long drive to see each other was too much for him. Now all Chlo was left with was memories that seemed so sweet at the time, but was now nothing more than a sore bitter patch in her mind.
Chlo's dad was already waiting in Redditch train station when she got off the train. She couldn't hold back the tears any longer when she hopped into the car. They stopped off at Tesco on the way back home to get chocolate, her dads treat to cheer her up. When she got home, Chlo went straight to bed, hoping that when she woke up, her nightmare would be over, Kaname would text her in the morning, she'd tell him about the dream and they would laugh it off.
Dazed and confused, Chlo woke up to her mum shaking her vigorously.
"I can't wake your dad up"
That worked well enough, Chlo was wide awake now. She ran across the landing to her parents room, collapsing to her knees with one glimpse of her dad making no movement, with a face as pale as a Twilight vampire.
With one call and what seemed like an eternity of waiting, her house filled with paramedics, followed by police.
Chlo held her mom tight as the paramedics entered the lounge, she knew what they was about to say.
Chlo had lost the two main males in her life.
And with tears streaming down her face she realised that her life really could get worse.
