Maka's POV

"Your partner's dead. Boo hoo. He left you when you needed him most, and you're alone. Nobody is here for you. They're all dead. You're weak. You are afraid."

I yanked myself up out of my bed, screaming, and feeling cold drops rolling down my face. I blinked, one more drop falling. Am I crying? I wiped my eyes.

Damn. I had another one of those dreams. When we were fighting the Kishin, and he said that everyone was dead, and I was alone. But in the dream, they all actually were dead. They were gone. I was alone.

I wiped the remaining tears off my face. I slung my legs off the side of the bed, and set them on the ground. Then my door swung open, and hit the wall. My partner, my weapon, Soul, ran in. He had a worried look on his face.

"Maka? What happened? I heard you scream." He said. I sighed, and stood up, rubbing my eyes, my face feeling stiff from being tear-stained.

"Oh... Sorry... It's nothing. I just had another Kishin dream..." I said, my voice feeling raspy. He walked up to me.

"Are you sure it's fine? I've never seen you waking up from the dreams crying." He said. I waved him off, nodding.

"Yes... I'm sure..." I said. Soul looked down, and shuffled his feet. I saw a pained look on his face, but then he quickly straightened up and did his signature, shark-toothed grin. I always love that smile. I smiled back.

"Alright, then I'll let you do what you gotta do!" He said, still smiling. He started towards the door.

"Wait!" I stopped him. He turned around, raising his eyebrows. "Isn't it my turn to make breakfast?" I looked over at my clock. It was 8:30. I usually don't wake up this late. "Have you ate yet? It's already 8:30..." I asked. He nodded. "Yeah, I made us something." I looked at him confusingly.

"You made something? For us?" I asked. He usually doesn't make breakfast. He mostly "makes" cereal, or Hot Pockets or something. He rolled his eyes, hinting my surprised tone.

"It was your turn yesterday. Why'd you do it again?" He stuffed his hands in his jacket pockets, shrugging.

"I don't know, I just though you needed a break, is all. It's Friday too. Thought you'd appreciate it." I smiled. Soul's so sweet at times. I don't see why he isn't always like this.

Then it hit me.

"Today's Friday?! I thought it was Saturday! We're going to be late for school!" (my life) I yelled. He widened his eyes a bit and gave me a guilty look.

"Yeah... I should've woken you. I wasn't keeping track of time." He said. I groaned and grabbed my clothes, and ran into the bathroom.

"Your breakfast is on the table. Don't take too long like usual, Maka!" Soul said. I threw on my clothes, and ran a brush through my hair. No time for a shower today. I brushed my teeth, put on my socks and ran out, grabbing my shoes. I darted towards the kitchen. I slipped on the hardwood floor in my socks, and landed on the floor, hitting my head on the ground.
